All right, friends, rather than run the risk of rushing through a third OVSC, the best thing to do is start qualifying for a main game. Can't guarantee we'll play a third OVSC before the end of this episode -- but we'll try to sneak it in.

To reiterate, Brian Henegar's our current champ with more than CY$20,000 in winnings. Unless you played in Game 38, 39 or 40, please sit on your hands and let someone else in on the fun.

Can't remember the last time you played? Go to www.dougmorris.net/poker and click on "archives".

And here's the question. The two players closest to the right answer, high or low, play against the champ.

On June 27, 2009, we watched the 2:00pm airing of the current incarnation of "The Newlywed Game" -- as part of a day-long marathon on GSN. In the main game, how many total points were scored by the three competing couples in this half hour episode?

To clarify, we are *not* counting points scored in the bonus round of this episode between the winning newlyweds and a goldywed couple who played "The Newlywed Game" in a previous version. Further, the correct answer to this question is evenly divisible by 5 -- so please respond in 5-point increments.

(time passes)

And we're done. Now, here's the interesting thing as we reveal the right answer.

QUALIFYING ANSWER
35 POINTS

(ding)

Couple #1 won the game with 20 points -- while the other newlyweds combined for 15. The bonus round of newlyweds vs. goldyweds ended in a scoreless tie. So, even if were to calculate the bonus round points, we'd still have 35 as the answer.

FWIW, they played the tie-breaker with the goldyweds' winning prediction of 9 points; the newlyweds predicted 10. Since 9's closer to 0, that's why the goldies won.

Huh kay, who's the closest?

John Coday Hines 45

'Fraid John's gonna have to wait. He was a challenger just on the last episode. Remember, gotta wait out three full eps before trying to get back into a main game. Next closest?

Brian Moore 55
Matt Tanga 55
Matt Taylor 55

(Greed tie sfx)

Woah! Three-way tie. You know how we break it. Player who locked in the soonest takes the edge and becomes Player #2. Who dat?

Matt Taylor 55

It's Matt Taylor. Now it's between the other Matt and Brian. The one who locked in sooner will be Player #3. And that player is...

Brian Moore 55

...Brian. Well, let's see if you're luckier in the main event than the OVSC. More of The New Net Poker after this.

NOTE FROM DOUG: Messages to Brian Moore have been bouncing back with error messages. We've decided to hold a spot for Brian Moore in Game 42 of The New Net Poker -- and also allow Matt Tanga a chance to play.

Brian Moore, if you're reading this, please give us a jingle and let us know if you've changed your e-mail address.

Doug: Thanks, Deej. Welcome back everyone. Brian, nice to see you again. Say hello to your opponent Matt -- and your other opponent Matt.

(audience laughs)

Doug: We've already started each of you off with 10 points. Let's get in to a new game with Video Poker and one of my favorite themes...

WHAT'S IN A NAME?
WILLIAM SHATNER

Doug: ...What's In A Name? And today's name is William Shatner. In a moment, I'm going to ask a series of questions. The correct answer to each question uses some of the letters that appear in the first and/or last name of William Shatner. For example...

What capital city of the Philippines played host to a "thrilla" of a boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier?

...the correct answer here is Manila. There's an M in William, an A and a N in Shatner -- and an I, L and A back in William.

Every time you buzz in and answer a question correctly, we'll award you ten points. Be careful -- because if you buzz in and answer incorrectly, we take ten points away and move on to the next question.

Remember, you're jockeying for position ahead of trips to the video screen -- and the more points you rack up, the better the advantage you'll have in the Poker Run.

Right now, let's play What's In A Name?: William Shatner.
