5-Card Poker

JOHN

MATTHIAS

Doug: He ends up with a pair of Aces. Matthias gets 25 more points.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: However, the goal is 100 points. Let's get there with another Poker Run.

(motorcycle sfx)

Doug: Now in this Poker Run, we make no changes to the score. Matthias stays at 60 for now -- John at 20. Each question is worth 15 points *plus* five additional points for each face card among the next two cards from the deck. Deej, let's have a look.

D.J.: OK...

D.J.: The King of Spades and the 10 of Hearts.

Doug: So that means we up the stakes to 20 points a question.

In this Poker Run, if you chime in and pick the right answer, we add 20 to your score. Buzz in and pick a wrong answer, we take 20 away -- and it is possible that your score could register in the negatives. So play carefully.

Matthias is two right answers from victory right now. John needs four. I got a lot of questions as we start the Poker Run -- now.

In 5-Card Poker, we use a deck that could also be used for a game of Euchre; if Spades were the trump suit in Euchre...
\ the Jack of Spades would be the highest trump card
\ the Ace of Spades would be the second highest trump card
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Matthias buzzes in)

Doug: Matthias

Matthias: The Jack of Spades would be the highest trump card.

(ding)

Doug: That's right.

JOHN
MATTHIAS

Doug: Jack of *Clubs* would be next, then Ace of Spades, King of Spades and so on and so forth on down to the 9 of Spades.

Dr. J is the nickname of ...
\ a former pro basketball player
\ an original member of the group "Will To Power"
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Matthias buzzes in)

Doug: Matthias for the win.

Matthias: all of the above

Doug: That's *right*.

JOHN
MATTHIAS

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: Basketball's Dr. J is Julius Erving. Will To Power's Dr. J was David Rosenthal. Matthias, congratulations. A chance to win CY$5000 coming shortly.

John, ten cyber-bucks a point gives you CY$200. We hope you had fun and we thank you for playing The New Net Poker.

Big hand for John Coday Hines.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Matthias, a fortune is waiting to be won in the next round. You and Brian will compete for that later. Right now, a chance to win CY$7500. It's hidden behind one of the letters in "POKER". Please pick a letter.

Matthias: I have a feeling it's behind the "E".

Doug: The E. Is there 7500 behind E?

(rimshot; ca-ching)

Doug: Well, a third of that -- CY$2500.

JOHN
MATTHIAS

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: When we come back Matthias will play against Brian for the championship. One of them could win our new Joker's Side Pot worth CY$10,000. We're back for Joker Poker on The New Net Poker.

(audience cheers)
