Doug: Well, obviously, a second turn is in order. This hand alone is worth minus-five.
John: 7 to 6, and 22 to 23
Doug: Losing the Jack and Queen. Let's see if that works.
(FF reveal sfx) (Trivia Trap sfx) (audience groans)
Doug: Still Ace high, John.

Doug: The good part about The New Net Poker is that you're not out of this round. Every round of the main game now plays to a defined goal. So hang in there. Matthias, your turn at bat comes after we shuffle.
Doug: Before I turn you loose at the screen, tell Mr. & Mrs. Internet a little something about you, please.
Matthias: I am a student at Santa Rosa Junior College and I'm studying computers in order to go into the gaming industry.
Doug: Well, this part of the round should be ideal for you. Pick your numbers, please.
Matthias: Let's go for 4, 6, 7, 20, and 24.
Doug: OK, before we reveal the cards behind the numbers, let me correct something I alluded to earlier. Highest point total actually gets two free letters in the Poker Run -- unless he has at least 100 -- *then* it's three letters. I'm still trying to get used to these new rules myself. (light laughter from the crowd) With that corrected, let's see Matthias' cards.
Doug: Just two 9s. Definitely not worth 100 to the good -- more like five in the hole. Please go ahead and make exchanges.
Matthias: Toss the nines and go for 14 and 17.
Doug: Losing the 9s -- interesting. If 14 and 17 hide a King and 10, not necessarily respectively, that's a 40-point straight. Let's have a look.
(FF reveal sfx) (Trivia Trap sfx) (audience groans)
Doug: Ohhh, close, Matthias. Had that Jack of Hearts been a King of anything, you'd have the lead to yourself.

Doug: Gotta dock you five points, unfortunately. Brian will get the advantage as we get set for -- Poker Run.

Doug: Now in a three-player Poker Run, the contestants will be racing to collect five letters in the word "POKER". Before we start, let's give 'em some free letters -- based on the standings.

Doug: Brian, since you had the most points, we give you two free letters in "POKER". John and Matthias, we'll be nice and say you tied for second -- entitling each of you to one free letter.
In Poker Run, we play general knowledge multiple choice questions. Chime in and pick the right answer -- and you'll earn another letter. But if you buzz in and miss, we take a letter away and we go on immediately to the next question. Keep in mind it's impossible to have less than zero letters in this round.
Best of luck, hands on buzzers and let's start the Poker Run.
