Audience Game

Before we start the audience game, a special announcement. We had planned to have the next episode be an all-celebrity special. Due to recently discovered time constraints, I'm afraid I have to cancel those plans. So, this, in effect, will be Net Poker's final episode for 2008. (Fret not, fans, there's more fun on the way for '09.)

So, this will be the final audience game for 2008. We seek three players for this. The three closest to the right answer to this query, high or low, get to play -- with the winner to spin for tens of thousands against the outlaw.

Here the question...

In a recent survey of female attorneys, what percentage of them said they don't like dating other attorneys?

(time passes)

And time's up. Oh, BTW, in that same survey, 100% of the female attorneys said they'd never date deadbeat fathers

D E A D B E A T   A L E R T !

(audience cheers)

I can tell you right now Josh did chime in on this question. Is he close enough? We'll find out shortly. But first, let's see the correct answer.

QUALIFYING ANSWER
38%

(ding)

It's 38%. The other 62% would rather cuddle up with a male attorney on the couch and watch "Boston Legal". Who's the closest to 38%

Lori Burstein	40%
Ian Laudato	36%

(Greed tie sfx)

Tie for distance betweeen Lori and Ian. You're both in and I can tell you the game we're playing doesn't make a difference in podium position. But just for grins, who locked in first?

Ian Laudato	36%

OK, Ian, you're in position 1, Lori's in position 2 and in position 3 is...

Matt Taylor	32%

...Matt. Thanks to everyone else for playing. Net Poker's back in a bit.

D.J.: We're about to drop the green flag on Grand Prix, tonight's audience game. Joining us are Ian Laudato, Lori Burstein and Matt Taylor.

(audience cheers)

IAN
LORI
MATT

Doug: Thanks, Deej. Welcome, Ian, Lori and Matt. We're about to find out which one of you will spin against the outlaw. And we do that with a little auto race we call Grand Prix. Here's how it works.

ACES=200 miles
FACES=100 miles
NUMBERS=50 miles
Car's odometer cannot
exceed 500 miles.

Doug: In a moment, D.J. will draw cards from the top of a new deck. Each card will add mileage to one of the car's odometers. If she draws a Spade or Club, mileage is added to the black car; a Diamond or Heart adds miles to the red card.

The rank of the card determines how many miles we add to an odometer. As you can see an Ace is worth 200 miles, face cards are worth 100 miles each and tens and nines are worth 50 miles each.

The first car to reach *exactly* 500 miles wins the race. "Exactly" is the key word -- since a car's odometer cannot have more than 500 miles.

Those who pick the winning car win or share in CY$3000. Those who don't split CY$1.00 per mile on the losing car's odometer. Most cyber-money after this *one* race goes on to the video slot challenge. If necessary, we go to the dice table to break the tie.

So, go ahead and choose a car -- red or black.

(players lock in choices)

Doug: And we're set. Ian, which car do you think will win?

Ian: Black.

Doug: One vote for Black. Lori, what's your prediction?

Lori: Red.

Doug: One vote for Red. Matt, which way do you go?

Matt: Red.

IAN
LORI
MATT

Doug: OK, so if the black car wins, Ian takes CY$3000 into the Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge. Otherwise, Lori and Matt each win CY$1500 and then go to the tie-breaker at the dice table.

To drop the green flag, Judge Von Erik will do the honors.

(cut to Erik at the judge's table where he waves the green flag)

Doug: Lovely job. (audience laughs and applauds) Let's go, Deej.

Doug: And a modest start for the black car. The 10 of Spades means 50 miles.

Doug: Woah, big card for red.

Doug: And it's as if the black car's in the pits for engine trouble.

Doug: Looking better for Lori and Matt. Another 50 miles for their car.

Doug: Now the black car's back on track. At least we can say "back on track" on this show. (crew laughs) Inside joke.

Doug: Hey now, look who's catching up? It's Ian's car.

Doug: Woah and now they're neck and neck.

Doug: Another 50 miles for the black car. If the next card's a face card of Spades or Clubs, Ian wins it in a comeback.

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: And proof it's not over 'til the checkers wave. Wait, we gotta go back to Erik.

(cut to Erik at the judge's table where he waves the checkered flag)

Doug: Atta boy. (audience laughs)

IAN
LORI
MATT

Doug: Ian collects all 3000. Lori and Matt, your car got off to a great start -- unfortunately it would not end as great. Since the red car advanced 350 miles, you'll split CY$350. That's CY$175 for each of you. Plus our thanks for playing.

(audience applause)
