Joker Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Rich: The championship's on the line. Josh and Michael play Joker Poker where one of them could win CY$5000 and a trip to Monte Carlo. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

(audience applause)

Doug: Thank ya, Rich. Time for the final round. As always in the Joker Poker round, the theme is General Knowledge Multiple Choice.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
MULTIPLE CHOICE

Doug: Each question has four possible answers -- with the last two being "all of the above" and "none of the above". Ten points are awarded to the player who chimes in with the right answer; with the points comes control of the cards. After each player has four cards, we play a 15-point blind card question. High hand wins 25 more points. Higher scorer wins the game and goes on to play for CY$55,000 in Deuces Wild Poker.

(audience cheers)

JOSH
MICHAEL

Doug: Since Josh won the first round, he cut the cards for this round. Remember, this is Joker Poker -- so there are two Jokers in the deck. Once you collect a Joker, you may use it for anything when your hand is complete.

Josh, Michael, good luck. Let's see the first two cards of the round.

D.J.: The Ace of Spades and the Jack of Clubs.

Doug: All right, and here we go with the first question.

In the year 1978,...
\ the Reds won the World Series
\ "Halloween" was playing at a theater near you
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Josh buzzes in)

Doug: Josh.

Josh: Halloween was playing.

Doug: That's it. (audience applause) Yankees won it all in '78. Josh, which card?

Josh: The Ace please.

Doug: No surprise there.

JOSH

MICHAEL

Doug: I'd be in remiss if I didn't mention five of a kind this round also pays CY$100,000 and gets you the car. Still the same with a natural royal flush. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The King of Diamonds and the Queen of Diamonds.

Doug: Huh kay. Nevermind. (light laughter from the crowd) Next question.

When making a list of U.S. states with active volcanoes, you must include...
\ Washington
\ California
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Josh buzzes in)

Doug: Josh.

Josh: I believe Mount Shasta is considered active so I will say all of the above.

Doug: All the above's right. (audience applause) Alaska and Hawaii complete the list. Josh, you now have 20 points -- and again the control of the cards is yours. Which one?

Josh: Take the King.

JOSH

MICHAEL

Doug: Cowboy's yours. Michael gets the lady. Two more cards are on the way.

D.J.: The 10 of Diamonds and the King of Clubs.

Doug: Well, Michael, you'll be 3/5 of the way toward a straight, either way. But you really could use some points. Next 10-point toss-up.

Woodrow Wilson served as president of...
\ Princeton University
\ the U.S. before *and* after Grover Cleveland
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Josh buzzes in)

Doug: Josh.

Josh: I'm going to say he was president of Princeton.

Doug: And I'm going to say -- you lead 30 to nothing. (audience applause) He became Princeton president in 1902. In the White House, he was preceded by Taft and succeeded by Harding. Josh, which card?

Josh: Take the cowboy.

Doug: Another King for Josh.

JOSH

MICHAEL

Doug: Michael's 3/5 of the way toward a straight. But you could really use some points, Michael. I see ya buzzin' in. Josh is just beating you to the punch. Let's see the next two cards.

D.J.: The King of Spades and the Queen of Spades.

Doug: OK, we haven't seen any Jokers as yet. Next question for 10.

Invisible ink was invented...
\ in the year 1900
\ by Thomas Edison
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: none of the above

Doug: And you're on the board.

JOSH
MICHAEL

(audience applause)

Doug: It was invented by James Jay in 1775. Which card, Michael?

Michael: It's time to get a straight. Let's take the King.

Doug: King's yours.

JOSH

MICHAEL

Doug: Josh gets a Queen. Now, let's set the stage for our blind card question.

Doug: It's worth 15 points. That means if Josh scores on this question, he'll automatically win the game since there would not be enough points available for Michael to win. So, Michael, you need to score on this query to stay in business. Here's the important query...

Donald Duck and the Pillsbury Doughboy typically do not wear...
\ pants
\ a hat
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: pants

Doug: You're still in the game. (audience applause)All right, Michael, you have to hope one of these cards is good for you and the other isn't so good for Josh. Which card?

Michael: I hope the left card has an Ace, nine, or Joker.

Doug: He's got this all figured out.

JOSH

MICHAEL

Doug: Indeed, a 9, Ace or Joker will make him the champ no matter what Josh has. So, let's baby this up and check *Josh's* last card first.

JOSH

MICHAEL

(a few gasps from the crowd)

Doug: A 9 wraps up Josh's hand for one pair. Now there are still three 9s, three Aces and two Jokers. One of those eight cards has to be Michael's last card in order to become champion. Flip it over, Deej.

JOSH

MICHAEL

(scattered groans from the crowd)

Doug: A 10 of Hearts. Sorry, Michael. Josh, you're still the champ.

JOSH
MICHAEL

(audience applause; Super Pay Cards game victory music plays)

Doug: Stand by, we'll get Deuces Wild ready for you -- but first, a shot at CY$10,000 plus the side pot shortly. Michael, we've got to say farewell. But we do so with CY$4750. Nice piece of change. Thanks for playing.

(audience applause)
