We're about ready to start Game 37 and the third episode of Net Poker's fifth anniversary celebration.
Todd Davis returns with a trip to South Padre Island, Texas, two wins and CY$118,500. No matter what happens to Todd in this episode, he'll be in the running for CY$1,000,000 in the Mega Playoff, our tournament of champions.
Still, want to stop Todd's winning ways? You'll have to get by the qualifying question. If you're a retired champion or played Game 34, 35 or 36, please sit on your hands and let someone else win. As always, if you can't remember when you played, go to www.dougmorris.net/poker and click on "archives".
On to the qualifying question. Two players closest to the right answer, high or low, get to be Todd Davis' challengers. And away we go...
On March 1, 2008, at 12:30am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Now You See It". Between the elimination round (with two teams of two players each), the "letter by letter" semi-final round and the head-to-head final round with the champion, how many total points were scored by all five contestants in this episode?
(time passes)
OK, thanks to everyone for their patience. Let's go straight to the right answer.
QUALIFYING ANSWER
118
First round finished 48 to 12 the blue team over the green team. When the outside player on the blue team went over to the green side, the round went the distance -- 4 to 3 in favor of the blue player. The champ defeated the challenger 39 to 12.
And let's go straight to the top two in qualifying.
Josh Warren 120 Chris Wolvie 113Josh, you're the closest. Chris "Netgame Marathon" Wolvie's in it, too. We'll deal out the fun shortly.
======================================================================Rich Jeffries: "The World Euchre Tour" (audience laughs) will not be seen tonight. In its place, here's a game that's all *Jacked* up. ======================================================================
(drum roll) (fade into one-shot of champion)
Rich: This is our current champion, Todd Davis -- a college student and soccer referee from Tampa, Florida.

Rich: So far, he has won CY$118,500 and a trip to South Padre Island, Texas. If he wins tonight's game, he'll win another CY$100,000 plus a new car.

Rich: Either of Todd's challengers could also win big -- and begin his own journey to the Mega Playoff. Find out what happens here -- on Net Poker.
Rich: From CDM Enterprises, a division of Trax Productions, welcome to the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. Celebrating five years on VBS, this is Net Poker.

Rich: And now, here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!
(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen)
Doug: Thank you, Rich and hellooooooo everybody! Welcome to Net Poker. Indeed, this could be a big night for our champion. He's already had a couple of big nights over at the Deuces Wild round; his first visit was worth CY$20,000 and the next visit resulted in a jackpot payoff. A win here in the main game could virtually double his winnings.
But of course, a couple of players want to get in his way. To introduce them all, here's our dealer, D.J. Hamilton.
(audience cheers) (D.J. walks out wearing a pair of blue jeans and an old "Shop 'Til You Drop" T-shirt while she carries a couple of shopping bags)
Doug: Oh, dear. Deej? Why the "Shop 'Til You Drop"?
D.J.: It's for the first round's theme *and* the fact I was born to shop. I'll tell ya more in a bit. First, let's welcome Chris Wolvie, Josh Warren and our current champion with CY$118,500, Todd Davis.

Doug: We've spotted each player 10 points. Now, what's our theme?
D.J.: Well, when I'm not shopping at the mall, I'm shopping with QVC.

QVCD.J.: The answer to each question is either the letter Q, V or C. Each time you buzz in and answer correctly, you win 10 more points. Afterward, I'll take ya'll to the video screen for more points.
Doug: That's great and all -- but I don't have the questions for this theme.
D.J.: Oh, that's right. I got 'em in one of these bags. (searches) OK, Salad Shooter? "Practical Jokes to Pull on Your Ex-Husbands". (audience laughs) Ah, here they are.
(D.J. hands question cards to Doug)
Doug: Why me? (more laughs) Players, hands on the buzzers and here we go.
