Video Poker Doug: Hands on the buzzers -- and here we go.
"FYI"
Doug: Jay.
Jay: Murphy Brown
Doug: That's right.
Doug: I have the first season DVD of "Murphy Brown" at home -- and an episode of "My Sister Sam" was included as a bonus. Jay with the early lead. Here's the next fictional show.
"Tool Time"
Doug: Matt.
Matt: Home Improvement
Doug: Right on.
TODD MATT JAY ![]()

Doug: Challengers are tied at 20. Todd, chance at three-way tie. Next fictional program.
The 6:00 p.m. newscast on WJM-TV
Doug: Jay.
Jay: The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Doug: Right you are.
Doug: Jay leading with 30. Next question.
"Buffalo Bill"
(time passes)
Doug: No takers? (buzz buzz) You guys may be too young to remember this particular sitcom. It was on in the early '80s, if memory serves, and it starred Dabney Coleman in the title role of Bill Bittinger, a TV talk show host in Buffalo, New York -- hence the name of the fictional talk show "Buffalo Bill".
It -- also -- happened to be the name of the actual sitcom. "Buffalo Bill". (a few groans from the crowd) And Bill had some wacky hand signal as he ended a talk show by saying "Ciao" -- I remember that.
Also, Joanna Gleason was on that show. She's the daughter of Monty Hall. I honestly don't know if it's on DVD. I assume so -- and, if so, they probably went ahead and put the whole series in one box set.
In any event, after that long explanation, Jay still has 30, Matt with 20 and Todd still has 10. Last fictional show and we'll go to the video screen.
"The Itchy and Scratchy Show"
Doug: Matt.
Matt: The Simpsons
Doug: That's it.

Doug: And with that, the challengers are tied at 30. Champ has some catching up to do -- and can catch up -- at the video screen.
D.J.: All right. Players, as you know, we've hidden the Ace through 9 of each of the four suits behind these numbers. You'll each take up to two consecutive turns at the screen.
On your first turn, you'll choose five number and we'll reveal the cards behind your chosen numbers. If you're happy with the combination you made, we'll add the associated points to your score and then pass control to the next player in line. But if you want to take the second turn, discard as many cards as you like -- and then draw as many new ones. After that second turn, you're stuck with the hand and points.

D.J.: As you can see, the higher the hand you make, the more points we add to your score. But if you get a pair of Jacks or less, we have to take five points away.
Doug: And if you can make a natural royal flush in this or any other round, you'll probably win the round and *definitely* win CY$100,000 plus this.

Rich: For your driving enjoyment, IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR! (audience cheers) The Porsche Boxster. This high performance roadster offers dynamic styling and thrills aplenty. Comes with a 2.7 liter H6 240 horsepower engine -- plus five-speed automatic transmission, trunk anti-trap device, all-speed traction control and much more. (more cheers) (music fades)
Doug: All right, great car indeed. Todd, you'll go first since you're the low man on the totem pole.
Todd: I'd like to give a shout out to my Mom and Dad who are in the audience. Let's go for 2 4 6 8 10.
Doug: First five even numbers on the board give Todd what?
Doug: Pair of Kings -- worth only 5 points. You'll want to take the second turn. You need at least three of a kind to have a mathematical chance to stay in the round. Of course, the better the hand you make, the better the odds you'll win the round.
(Doug holds up car keys)
Doug: And, I should point out you have three ingredients for a royal flush in Diamonds. Trade in the Spades for Diamonds higher than a 9 and you're headed for the Mega Playoff. How do you play it?
Todd: Keep the kings (a few groans from the crowd) take 19 20 21.
Doug: Don't listen to the crowd. I think that's a wise move. Let's see 19 through 21.
Doug: Woah! (audience cheers)

Doug: Full boat for 40 points. Great job.
Now, Matt and Jay are tied right now. Matt, you were closer that Jay in the qualifying round -- so you'll take command of the board next. First, let's shuffle the cards.
Doug: OK, Matt, before I turn you loose, let's get the Matt Taylor story.
Matt: Well I'm a reservations agent for a major hotel chain as well as a sales rep for a local minor league hockey team. I enjoy reading and wasting massive amounts of time on social networking sites.
Doug: And I should note Matt friended me on MySpace. I saw a picture of him hold up what looked like the Stanley Cup -- but not quite. Anyway, five numbers, please.
Matt: 3, 7, 12, 18, 19
Doug: OK, a straight will tie. Anything better will take the lead. Let's see what ya got.
Doug: In a word, yuck. Pair of 9s only gives you five points. You'll want to take that second turn. (holds up car keys again) May I point out you have three Spades. Find two more Spades and you'll have the lead. And if those Spades are higher than a 9, you get 100-grand, a car and a berth in the Mega Playoff.
Matt: The car is tempting, but I'll exchange 12 18 and 19 for 10 14 and 22.
Doug: OK, throwing away the Spades. Does he do better with 10, 14 and 22?
Doug: Well, if the 10 hid the King of Spades, we might have to carry Matt out on a stretcher.

Doug: We'll give you 15 points more for three 9s; 45's a great score -- but not a winning number today. Before we go to Jay, can we get the rest of the story on that cup?
Matt: The cup in that picture was the President's Cup, given to the champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, which a team from an hour north of us won last year. We have a pretty good working relationship with them with our team so we got to take possession of it for a couple days, including when our parent team Anaheim when the Stanley Cup last year. It does look a lot like the cup itself.
Doug: Indeed it does. Well, we know we'll see you in the next round. Jay, we go to you after we shuffle.
