(ding)

Doug: But the rest you have to earn and we start with the questions. Hands on the buzzers and good luck.

What musical quintet included brothers named Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael?

(Brian buzzes in)

Doug: Brian.

Brian: The Jackson 5 -- or the Jacksons.

Doug: Ultimately we needed "The Jackson 5" -- but either answer's OK.

(audience applause)

Doug: Next question in Five About Five.

Aisha Tyler may have been the last person to host E!'s "Talk Soup" -- but she was the first person to host what dating show?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: The Fifth Wheel.

Doug: That's right.

(audience applause)

[NOTE FROM DOUG: Some sources indicate the title was expressed as "The 5th Wheel" -- but we'll credit John with a right answer as if he misspelled the answer but was "close enough".]

Doug: John and Brian tied for the early lead. Todd, chance to make this a three-way tie.

Tim Blaney provided the voice of a robot known as Number 5 in what 1986 sci-fi comedy film?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: Short Circuit

Doug: That's the movie.

(audience applause)

Doug: John's up to 30. Another 10-pointer.

A character named 5 is one of the lesser-known characters in the Peanuts comic strip -- which was created by what cartoonist?

(Brian buzzes in)

Doug: Brian.

Brian: Charles M. Schulz

Doug: The late, great "Sparky" Schulz. That's right.

(audience applause)

Doug: I think it was Jim Davis, a fellow cartoonist, who came up with "Sparky". John and Brian tied at 30. Last question.

Destructive hurricanes can rate as high as Category 5 -- based on what scale?

(Todd buzzes in)

Doug: Todd.

Todd: Saffir Simpson

Doug: Right.

JOHN
TODD
BRIAN

(audience applause)

Doug: All right, after five questions about the number 5, John and Brian are tied at 30. Todd has 20. On to the next part of the round and Deej.

D.J.: OK, thanks Doug. Players, you'll each take up to two consecutive turns trying to build a poker hand. On your first turn, you'll choose five numbers and we'll reveal the cards behind your chosen numbers.

As always, we have every Ace through 9 of each suit hidden.

When we reveal your five numbers, if you're happy with the combination you made, take the points and pass control to another player. If you think you can do better, exchange one, some or all of your cards for new ones.

D.J.: When your turn ends, we'll award points based on your hand. You need at least a pair of Queens to take any points at all. Anything short of one pair of Queens means we take 5 points away.

Doug: And remember players, if you make a natural royal flush in this or any other round of the game, you win CY$100,000, automatic entry into our tournament of champions -- and this prize.

(new car music plays)

Rich: For your driving enjoyment, IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR! (audience cheers) The Porsche Boxster. This high performance roadster offers dynamic styling and thrills aplenty. Comes with a 2.7 liter H6 240 horsepower engine -- plus five-speed automatic transmission, trunk anti-trap device, all-speed traction control and much more.

(more cheers) (music fades)

Doug: OK, lot at stake. Now, Todd, you're in last place right now. So we start with you. Before you do that, please tell us about yourself.

Todd: My name is Todd Davis. I am from Tampa Florida. I currently go to the University of South Florida majoring in geography and I referee soccer.

Doug: All right. Nice to have you from the land of the bulls. Pick five numbers, please.

Todd: 8 2 19 14 12

Doug: Let's have a look.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Ewww! Just a pair of 10s. You'll need to take a second turn. Now, it's worth pointing out you're 3/5 of the way toward a royal flush in diamonds and 2/5 of the way toward a spaded royal flush.

(Doug holds up car keys)

Doug: And it's been a while since I've done this temptation trick. If you can make a royal flush on this next turn, these keys are yours. Oh, and the car that goes with it.

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: But to stop now means we gotta dock ya 5.

Todd: Keep Ace and King; pick 16 17 18.

Doug: Not going for the royal. (a few groans from the crowd) Oh, like you would! (light laughter from the crowd) Anyway, let's see if you have better luck with 16, 17, and 18.

(FF reveal sfx) (audience groans)

Doug: Oh, Todd, if you held on to the 10s, 16, 17 and 18 would've built you a full boat.

JOHN
TODD
BRIAN

Doug: Pair of ladies only gives you 5 points. You'll have to hope John and Brian run into bad luck. Now, we normally go to the player with the next highest score. But there's a tie for that distinction. John, since you're the designated champ, you'll go next -- after we shuffle.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: All right, John. Before you take command, tell us the John Hines story.

John: I'm a student from Russellville Arkansas and I'll be 15 in less than a month, and the reason why I came here is because I need cash for college.

Doug: All right. Good luck in your studies -- and here on Net Poker. Five numbers, please.

John: 2, 3, 15, 23, and 6

Doug: OK, let's have a look.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Well, pair of Kings. That's 5 points if you want to stop here -- or you may take a second turn.

John: I'll make exchanges with 3 and 6 and I'll replace them with 12 and 17.

Doug: OK, losing a King and 9. Interesting way to play it. Let's -- see what ya get.
