At long last, we're finally set to roll with Net Poker. But first, some notes are in order.

\ First, 2008 marks Net Poker's fifth year on VBS. We couldn't have made it this far this long without you. I can't thank ya'll enough.

\ Two players are already in Net Poker's tournament of champions -- Robert McBride and Andy Silikovitz. They're both on retired status and currently the top and second seeds, respectively. I should note we would call this the Quarter Million Playoff -- but as the old saying goes, the price of poker just went up. The guaranteed top prize has increased fourfold -- from CY$250,000 to CY$1,000,000. Thus, the Net Poker Quarter Million Playoff has been renamed the Net Poker Mega Playoff. More when we get two more people in the tourney.

\ You could become one of those people in the tourney -- and the CY$80,000 we have in the Outlaw's Jackpot could go a long way toward tournament qualification.

Since we have no returning champion this 'go-round, we're looking for three players. The three closest to the right answer, high or low, to the qualifying question play the main game. Since this is Game 35, please sit on your hands if you were a contestant in the main game of our 32nd, 33rd or 34th episode. Not sure when you played, please go to www.dougmorris.net/poker and click on archives.

Oh, did I mention for Year 5 of Net Poker we've redesigned our virtual set of Net Poker? No? How silly of me. Go to www.dougmorris.net/poker and check out the new decor.

All right, let's get to the qualifying question...

On October 7, 2007, at 9:00am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Family Feud", which originally aired on ABC. During the Fast Money round, a contestant was asked to the identify a sport you'd rather watch than play. The player said the number one answer of "Football" -- which was worth how many points?

(time passes)

Okie doke. Everyone's answers are in. BTW, *big* turnout for qualifying in this, TBR and Net Definition -- even some new faces. Thanks a bunch. Now to the answer.

QUALIFYING ANSWER
44 POINTS

(ding)

In other words, 44 out of the 100 people they surveyed long ago said they'd rather watch football than play it. Who's the closest?

Todd Davis	43
John Hines	43

(Greed tie sfx)

Tie between two of the aforementioned new faces. OK, the way we break the tie is by finding out who locked in 43 sooner. That player will act as the designated champ. And he is...

John Hines	43

...John. So you'll take the champ's slot. Todd, you're in position 2. And who gets the third slot?

Jay Cross	46
Rick Morris	46

(Greed tie sfx)

Well, it would be one of these two. But Jay, you were in Game 32 -- and Rick, you were in Game 33. Gotta wait a little while longer -- especially in deference to the new players who tried to get in the game. That said, who's the next closest.

Brian Henegar 47

OK, Brian's waited long enough. He was in Game 28. Now that we have our players lined up, we'll start Net Poker shortly.

Rich Jeffries: "Net Bargain Hunters' 5th Anniversary Special"
(audience laughs) will not be seen -- because it didn't last beyond
its first episode. This replacement, however, made it to Year 5.

======================================================================

(various scenes of casinos, poker tables and poker chips fade one after another as a smooth jazz theme plays)

Rich: From CDM Enterprises, a division of Trax Productions, welcome to the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. Celebrating five years on VBS, this is Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Rich: And now, here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!

(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen) (more cheers)

Doug: Yeah, you really wouldn't do that if we had an applause sign blinking. (audience laughs) Seriously, it's good to be back with you on Net Poker -- and as Rich said it's our fifth year! (audience cheers) I thank you for tuning in.

As our gift to you, we have redesigned our set. Doesn't this look beautiful? (audience cheers) You'll notice we have a lot of scarlet and grey on this set. That's in tribute to my late wife, Cindy, and our love for the Ohio State Buckeyes. (audience respectfully applauds) We also have newly designed decks of cards and new graphics for our Video Poker round which we'll start shortly.

But our dealer hasn't changed a bit. Ladies and gentlemen, D.J. Hamilton.

(audience cheers) (D.J. walks out wearing the little black dress; gives Doug a great big hug)

D.J.: Hi, everyone. Happy Year Five, Doug.

Doug: Thanks, Deej.

D.J.: And a warm welcome to our first contestants for 2008, John Hines, Todd Davis and Brian Henegar.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Thanks, Deej. We'll see you later for the second part of this round. Time now for the first part of the round.

FIVE ABOUT FIVE

Doug: Video Poker's theme tonight is, appropriately, Five About Five. I have five questions -- each of which relates in some way to the number 5, the word "five" or the ordinal number 5th/"fifth". Every time you chime in with the right answer, you collect 10 points. After five questions, Deej will give you a chance to earn more at the Video Poker screen.

Now, we normally spot each of you with 10 points in this round. But, since we're kicking off our fifth anniversary celebration and the theme is Five About Five, we're only spotting you...

Doug: ...5 points. (audience laughs)

D.J.: Ah, Doug?

Doug: Oh, OK, we'll throw in 5 more.
