Deuces Wild Poker Doug: Welcome back to Net Poker. Before we kick off our Deuces Wild round, a note that the actual 5th birthday of Net Poker occurs in July. During the early part of July, we plan to bring you a never-before-seen episode of Net Poker -- our *pilot* episode.
Yeah, the show's going to look a lot different. Five years ago, we were keeping score with an abacus. (audience laughs) My hair was a lot darker then, too! (more laughs)
Seriously, watch for it -- because that pilot show represents humble beginnings of Net Poker. Part of our present to you -- for being with us these five years here on VBS.
Doug: Todd Davis is about to take on the outlaws in Deuces Wild Poker. Todd, this is your first visit to the endgame -- so let me explain how this works.
Doug: Behind 10 of these 24 numbered spaces are outlaws. There's one outlaw in the top row, two in the second row, three in the third and four on the bottom row. In a moment, you'll choose one number from each row.
Each time you avoid an outlaw, you win a Deuce for your poker hand. As the name of the endgame implies, the Deuces are wild and could be used for anything when you complete your hand. The more Deuces you win, the better your chances of winning CY$20,000. Of course, on the flip side, the more outlaws you run into, the tougher it will be to win big.
The great thing of this is -- if you win four Deuces and manage to avoid all the outlaws, you win everything in the Outlaw's Jackpot worth CY$80,000.

Doug: And to appease the Net Poker staff, 80-grand just happens to be the amount Fred Scott spent on beer last year.
(staff laughs)
Doug: OK, Todd, we're all rooting for you now. Let's start at the top row. One outlaw to avoid. You're playing for the Deuce of Spades on this row.
Todd: 5
Doug: Number 5. Makes sense to start there since we're in the 5th year celebration of Net Poker. Is 5 a good start?
(winning bells; audience applause)
Doug: Yes it is.
Doug: Wow, do we have enough twinkling 2s on that board? (audience laughs) In any event, we go to the next row, Todd. Two outlaws to avoid. If you don't run into an outlaw, you win the Deuce of Hearts.
Todd: 11
Doug: Number 11. Hope that's a winner there, too.
(winning bells; audience applause)
Doug: It is.
Doug: Halfway home to the jackpot. We go to the third row -- where it's 50-50 time. Three outlaws to avoid. Succeed in avoiding them and not only will you win the Deuce of Clubs, you'll also shoot for the jackpot on the bottom row.
Todd: 16
Doug: Number 16. I hope that's a sweet 16 for you. Is it?
(winning bells; audience cheers)
Doug: YES!
Doug: Todd, if you could pull this off, you'd get the first show in our 5th year celebration off to a most excellent start. This is where the odds are against you. Four outlaws on the bottom row. Two of them will give you the Deuce of Diamonds. Pick one of those numbers that will give you that last Deuce -- and we'll also give you CY$80,000.
(scattered "woos" and cheers from the crowd)
Doug: So, for CY$80,000, what number will it be?
Todd: 21
Doug: (crosses fingers) Number 21. Good on some other show I'm involved in. Let's hope it's good here.
If

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (loud groans from the audience)
Doug: Todd, I'm so so sorry. Well, you have three Deuces. That's the good news and that means a decent shot at CY$20,000. Before we proceed, let's reveal where the other nine outlaws were.
Doug: Number 23 or 24 would've given you the jackpot. OK, during the break, we had you cut a deck of cards. The top two cards of the deck will come down the chute momentarily.
Doug: As before, you'll choose one of the cards -- but the card you decline will be discarded immediately. We'll do the same thing with the next pair.

Doug: Because you have three Deuces, the worst thing that could happen to you is a four of a kind for CY$2000. But if you're lucky enough to draw two cards higher than a 9 and of the same suit, you will have made a royal flush with the help of those three Deuces -- making a hand worth CY$20,000.
Doug: So, which card is going to help you on the road to 20-grand.The left or the right?
Todd: left card
Doug: The left card. Let's take a look.
D.J.: The Jack of Hearts. Great beginning.
Doug: Indeed it is...
Doug: ...now let's go to the second and final pair of cards for this round.
Doug: You've got to hope at least one of these cards is a Heart and it's higher than 9. For CY$20,000, left or right?
Todd: left card
Doug: The left card again.
If
the
left
card
is
the
10,
Queen,
King
or
Ace
of
Hearts,
you'll
win
twenty

cyber-
dollars.

D.J.: Todd, I hope this is a big payoff card.
D.J.: And it is! King of Hearts!
(winning bells; audience cheers)
Doug: All right Todd! Well, if you can't win 80-grand, 20-grand's certainly the next best thing.
Doug: As Deej completes the hand, let's crunch the numbers. CY$20,000 plus CY$3750 you won in the main game. This is easy to calculate.
Doug: You have a total for one victory of CY$23,750. (audience cheers) Now, you ran into one outlaw. That means we add CY$2500 to the jackpot. Make it back here and you'll play for CY$82,500.

Doug: And what's even better about this is should you hit the jackpot on the next show, you'll have more than CY$100,000 in winnings and that will put you into our Mega Playoff.
Doug: When we come back, we'll give a lucky audience member a chance at winning big. It's our audience prize game -- after this.
