Audience Game

While we're playing the main game, we'll go ahead and search for a qualifier for our audience game. Time will probably not allow for a full audience game -- so this will be, in effect, our prize game.

As always, this is open to anyone -- whether or not your currently playing in the main Net Poker game. Much like before, the player closest to the right answer, high or low, gets to play. The question...

On September 1, 2007, at 12:00pm Central, we watched a rerun from the first season of "Get the Picture" on Nick Gas (since rechristened as The N). The yellow team won the episode's main game with a score of how many dollars? Please respond to the nearest multiple of $5.

(time passes)

OK, time's up. Let's see the actual answer.

QUALIFYING ANSWER
$325

(ding)

There ya go, 325. And playing our prize game is...

Matt Taylor	$385

...Matt Taylor. Congrats. Your prize game will start shortly.

Doug: We want this nice crowd to share in the winning with our audience prize game. Rich, who will it be?

Rich: Matt Taylor, come on up! (audience cheers) (smooth jazz theme plays) It's your chance to win big on Net Poker.

Doug: Welcome, Matt. Got a nice bunch of prizes at stake -- and here's how ya win it all.

SELECT HIGHER CARD

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: The video screen has just dealt you a base card of the 10 of Clubs. Your task is to select a card higher than the 10. At least once of those numbers is hiding a card higher than that 10. Succeed in that task and you win CY$10,000 -- plus these prizes.

(prize music plays)

Rich: Matt, this prize package is a salute to America's bluegrass state -- Kentucky. And we'll start with a food commonly associated with Kentucky -- fried chicken. That's right, CY$50 in gift certificates for Kentucky Fried Chicken and fresh buttermilk biscuits. You've got a right to chicken done right. At Kentucky Fried Chicken, we do chicken right.

Next, get in the spirit of bluegrass music with this CD collection. CY$200 worth of CDs from various bluegrass artists -- such as the Foggy Mountain Boys, Doc Watson, Norman Blake and Rhonda Vincent. We're also including in this collection of CDs "Raising Sand" -- a collaboration by longtime bluegrass artist Alison Krauss and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant.

Finally, Kentucky's also known for horse racing. And we'll send you and a companion to the site of the first jewel of the triple crown -- the Kentucky Derby in Louisville. (audience cheers) You and your guest will fly round trip coach to Louisville for a six night stay in a luxury hotel.

Also on the morning of May 3rd, 2008, a limousine will take you to and from Churchill Downs so that you and your guest can sip on mint juleps. Plus, we at Net Poker will have all the best bets out of the way. If you succeed in finding a card higher than the 10 of Clubs, we'll place a wager of CY$100 on every horse in this year's most exciting two minutes in sports -- and you'll rake in the results.

Including the CY$10,000 you could also win, this package saluting my old Kentucky home is worth in cyber-cash and virtual prizes -- more than $16,350.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Wow! Fantastic prizes. I've played Robert Plant's music for years and have been to Louisville many times. This is a real treat if you can pull this off. The time has come to pick a number -- that hides a card higher than the 10.

Matt: KFC and the Derby? Right up my alley for sure there. I was always number three in sports. So I'll go with that.

Doug: Number 3. We'll see eventually whether or not that holds a key to victory. First, we have time to make at least one counter-offer -- and we'll start by randomly revealing a card you did not select.

SELECT HIGHER CARD

(ding) (a few groans)

Doug: Oh, #2 would've been winner, winner, chicken dinner -- literally -- and then some. Now, remember, there are no cards lower than a 9 on the board -- so that means a 10 is a relatively low card. Also keep in mind there *may* be more than one winning card on the board.

So, here's the counter-offer. You can stop right now and take CY$1000 for each card hidden -- or you may decline the offer in the hope #3 hides something higher than a 10.

(audience shouts out suggestions)

Matt: Always wanted to go to the Derby. So I'll play on.

(audience cheers)

Doug: He declines CY$3000 and plays on. We have time for *another* counter-offer. We'll reveal the card either behind 1 or 4. Again, the reveal is by random assignment.

SELECT HIGHER CARD

(ding) (more groans)

Doug: (clears throat) That's *another* winning card, Matt. We've seen an Ace and a Jack. Now, is there a third winning card on the board? Maybe, by some wacky coincidence, are all the cards are winners? If you're not feeling confident about #3, I'll give you a total of CY$2000 to stop right now.

(audience shouts out suggestions; about half say "take the 2000"; the others say "keep going")

Matt: Ooh boy. Tough call. You only live once though, so let's press on.

Doug: He presses on. (audience cheers) All right, let's see what's behind 1 before we go to 3.

SELECT HIGHER CARD

(ding) (smattering of cheers and applause)

Doug: OK, first losing card we've seen. Final offer, Matt, I'll offer CY$1000 for what's behind 3.

(audience shouts out suggestions; about half say "take the 1000"; the others say "keep going")

Matt: We've come this far might as well play it out.

(audience cheers)

Doug: All righty. No turning back now. No more counter-offers. You either end up with more than CY$16,000 in goodies or you end up with nuttin.

(audience applause; Super Pay Cards game victory music plays)

Doug: It's a winner! Congratulations. You get the KFC gift certificates, the bluegrass CDs and the trip to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby. Enjoy -- and thanks for playing.

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: Friends, there are more fun and games to come as we continue our fifth anniversary celebration of Net Poker. Until th-- oh -- wait --what have we here?

(D.J. and her daughter Terri roll out the 5th anniversary cake...)

D.J.: The bakery *just* delivered this. It's our fifth birthday cake.

Doug: Oh, this looks delicious. We'll share this with our main and audience games players -- as well as the audience. You'll each get *one* crumb. (audience laughs) Until the next game of Net Poker, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.

(audience cheers)
