5-Card Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Rich: All of tonight's players receive a copy of Net Poker: The Home Game. Make winning hands, battle against the outlaws and hit big jackpots. Net Poker: The Home Game -- now available at http://basicgames.folff.com -- from Eastland Entertainment and Trax Productions.

(audience applause)

Rich: And now, Will and Rick try to stay in the game with 5-Card Poker. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

Doug: That's so true, Rich. Will, Rick, this is the elimination round. Only one of you will advance to the final round to play against Andy. Winner of the game plays for the outlaw's jackpot worth CY$72,500. (audience cheers) But that's the future, here's the present.

WHAT'S MISSING?

Doug: Our theme for this round of 5-Card Poker is What's Missing? I'll give you a list of items that fit a certain category -- and it's up to you to determine what's missing from that list. For example, let's take a look at this list of suits found in a standard deck of playing cards...

SPADES
CLUBS
DIAMONDS

...and tell me what's missing. Of course, you would chime in and says Hearts.

Each time you buzz in with the right answer, you earn 10 points and the right to select one of two cards for your hand. As always, each card you decline ends up in your opponent's hand.

After you've each collected four cards, we'll up the stakes to 15 points -- but the cards up for grabs will be face down. Player who ends up with the better hand wins 25 points. Higher score wins the round.

Now we reset the point totals to zero. Will, you were in second place at the end of the last round. That gave you the right to cut the deck for this round. Let's see the first two cards from the top of the deck.

D.J.: The Ace of Hearts and the 10 of Hearts.

Doug: And already, a natural royal flush isn't in this discussion. In any event, you're both back in the control of the questioner. The questioner being -- me.

(light laughter from the crowd)

I'll show you a list of dwarfs from the classic Walt Disney film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" -- and you tell me who's missing.

DOC
GRUMPY
SLEEPY

HAPPY
DOPEY

(Will buzzes in)

Doug: Will.

Will: That would be Bashful.

Doug: And that would give you the first 10 points of the round.

WILL
RICK

(audience applause)

Doug: Guess he was too bashful to be listed. Which card, Will?

Will: I will take the ace of hearts.

Doug: Somehow I thought you would.

Doug: The right card you want, the right card you shall have. Now, Rick, we're going ahead and showing you the card you just picked to complete your hand. Let's see it.

Doug: Oooh. King of Hearts. Doesn't help you there. You have one pair. Will, a Queen or Ace gives you a better pair; another King gives you a straight. Anything else and Rick goes to the Joker Poker round. Let's see Will's last card, Deej.
