Deuces Wild Poker

Doug: Welcome back to Net Poker. Andy, we're going to dive right in to Deuces Wild.

Doug: You know how this works. We've randomly hidden ten outlaws on the board. You'll choose a number from each row -- hoping to avoid the pesky outlaws and win Deuces to start your poker hand. Of course, the closer you get to the bottom row, the likelihood that you'll run into an outlaw increases.

The more Deuces you win, the better your odds of making a CY$20,000 royal flush. But if you can avoid all the outlaws, it's the outlaw's jackpot of CY$72,500.

(audience cheers)

Doug: The win would give you a tournament score of CY$99,500 -- *nearly* putting you back in the Quarter Million Playoff. Should you win this jackpot, we do have an audience game later and whatever cyber-money you win there applies to the tournament score. Of course, you're coming back on the next program to add to your winnings.

But that's all in the future. Here's the present. Start at the top row. One outlaw there to avoid. You're playing for the Deuce of Spades.

Andy: 1

Doug: Number 1. Let's get our champ off to a good start with 1.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (loud groans from the crowd)

Doug: Ouch, babe! Right off the bat, an outlaw takes the wind out of your sails. OK, shake it off. Next row hides two outlaws. You're playing for the Deuce of Hearts.

Andy: 12

Doug: Let's make that dozen dandy.

(ding) (audience applause)

Doug: That's more like it.

Doug: Lovely Deej gives you the Deuce of Hearts for your hand. Now let's go after the Deuce of Clubs. Three outlaws to avoid in the third row.

Andy: 13

Doug: I hope this 13's lucky.

(ding) (audience applause)

Doug: And it is.

Doug: OK, Andy. Last row for the Deuce of Diamonds. Always the toughest to win since there are four outlaws on that last row. Good luck.

Andy: 24

Doug: The Jack Bauer number. The Jeff Gordon number. However you want to look at it, does this give Andy his third Deuce?

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (groans from the crowd)

Doug: Nope. We start with an outlaw and end with an outlaw. Well, let's see where the rest of the bad guys were.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: And there they were. All right, Andy, you know this drill.

Doug: During the break, we had you cut a deck of cards. The first two cards from the top of that deck just came down the chute. In a moment, you'll pick one, we'll turn it face up and add it to your hand. We'll repeat this process with the next two pairs of cards.

Doug: And as you've experienced, if you can draw cards higher than a 9 and all of the same suit, you win CY$20,000. (audience cheers) So where do we start -- left or right?

Andy: The left card (I hope it's the right one).

Doug: OK, we'll eventually see if you made the right move with the left card. D.J., let's see it.

D.J.: The 10 of Diamonds.

Doug: OK, that defines the mission.

Doug: Find an Ace and/or royalty of Diamonds. Here come the next two cards.

Doug: There they are. Again the decision -- left or right?

Andy: The right card this time (for real)

Doug: The right. Let's see if he made the right move.

D.J.: The 10 of Clubs.

Doug: Well, obviously a royal flush is out of the picture...

Doug: ...but five of a kind's possible and that's worth 10-large. Let's go to the final two cards of the round.

Doug: Let's hope one of these is another 10. Left or right?

Andy: Let's go back to the left.

Doug: (singing) Let's go back, shooby-dooby-dooby. (light laughter from the crowd) That was a fun cable game show, BTW. But back to this...

(audience groans)

D.J.: No, sorry. Jack of Clubs.

Doug: Darn. Juts curious, could he have won 10,000 with the right?

D.J.: Nope. A 9 there.

Doug: Oh well, no matter what, you'd end this last turn of the card with four of a kind for CY$2000.

(audience applause)

Doug: Let's crunch the numbers. Two-grand here plus 27,000 coming into this round makes this easy to add. CY$29,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: You ran into two outlaws. At CY$2500 each, it means we add CY$5000 to the bonus jackpot. If you make it back here on the next show, you'll play for CY$77,500.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Also if you make it back here on the next show, you're going to be CY$100,000 richer because of three straight wins. A win in the next main game also puts you back in the Quarter Million Playoff.

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: Meantime, we want to give the audience a chance to share in the fun. That's right after this.

(audience cheers)
