THE NAME GAME
Doug: The Name Game. In this theme, we'll show you photographs of famous people -- real and fictional. We'll give the first or last name of one person and the first or last of the other. You supply the missing names. For example...
If this actress from the television series "Monk" were the wife of this professional auto racer, what would her name be?
Doug: Deej, what's the answer?
D.J.: (giggles) Traylor Park.
Doug: That's right Traylor Howard and Steve Park. That's all ya gotta do.
As always, buzz in with the right answer and you earn 10 points and the right to pick one of two up cards. As always, the card you decline goes to your opponent. After four cards, we play a 15-point blind card question. High hand's worth 25. High score advances to the final round to play against Andy for the championship. Let's see the first two cards.
D.J.: The Jack of Hearts and the King of Spades.
Doug: I should note Kourtney cut the deck for the round, BTW, since he finished second in the earlier round. That said, here's the first question in the name game. Take a look at the monitor...
If this talk show hostess were the wife of this Canadian-born actor from the movie "Freddy Got Fingered", what would her name be?
Doug: Jay.
Jay: Kelly Green
Doug: That's right.
KOURTNEY JAY ![]()
![]()
Doug: Kelly Ripa and Tom Green. Jay, you're on the board first. Which card?
Jay: King of spades please Doug.
Doug: Eh, since you said "please" we'll let ya. :)
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: Kourtney gets the Jack and two more cards come on down the chute.
D.J.: They are the King of Diamonds and the Jack of Spades.
Doug: Another cowboy and knave at stake with this...
If this Barker's beauty from "The Price is Right" were the wife of this actor who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles, what would her name be?
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: Who is Phire Foxx?
(light laughter from the crowd)
Doug: Did my check just bounce? (more laughter) Anyway, that's right for a tie. (audience applause) Yeah, Phire Dawson and Jamie Foxx. As to how they met, they met in the Bob Barker studio. Jamie just happened to be browsing around. (audience groans) Kourtney, before they become an unruly mob, choose a card.
(time passes) (buzz)
Doug: No decision in time. I flip a coin. Heads means Kourtney gets the King; tails and it's the Jack. Jay of course receives what Kourtney doesn't get.
(Doug flips coin; let's it land on floor)
Doug: It's tails -- so each player has a pair.
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: And we have two more cards.
D.J. The Ace of Diamonds and the Queen of Hearts.
Doug: And it's back to the monitor for the next question.
If this anchor of CBS' evening newscast were the wife of this fictional detective, what would her name be?
Doug: Jay.
Jay: Katie Holmes
Doug: That's right.
KOURTNEY JAY ![]()
![]()
Doug: If Katie does remarry in real life, Dan Rather shouldn't count on an invitation. (audience laughs) Probably the same can be said of Tom Cruise. Anyway, Jay, which card?
Jay: Ace of diamonds for me please Doug.
Doug: Figured ya might.
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: Jay still with two cowboys. Kourtney has two knaves. D.J., what's next from the chute?
D.J.: The Queen of Diamonds and the 9 of Spades.
Doug: Well well well. This could get really interesting. Next question...
If this professional football quarterback, pictured on the left, were the son of this television host from Food Network's "Unwrapped", what would the quarterback's name be?
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: I am going to go with Brett Summers.
Doug: And we have a tie score again. (audience applause) They gave me this line to read about "throwing blanks"... (tosses card) ...but I know that line won't fly around these parts. C'mon, we're in Brett Favre country! Anyway, which card, Kourtney?
Kourtney: I will take the queen.
Doug: Queen's yours...
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: ...Jay would like another King, Ace or 9. Last two cards for the round.
Doug: And we up the ante for the blind card question -- 15 points. More importantly, you get control of the cards if you chime in with the right answer to this...
If this former game show host, pictured on the left, were the son of this editor of "The New York Times" crossword puzzle, what would the host's name be?
Doug: Jay.
Jay: Jim Shortz
Doug: That's correct.
KOURTNEY JAY ![]()
![]()
Doug: Jim Caldwell and Will Shortz. OK, Jay. Important decision here. Left or right card?
Jay: I'll hope for the best with the left card.
Doug: Left's yours.
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: And Kourtney has the right. Jay, we'll go to your last card first. If it's another cowboy, you have three of a kind. An Ace or 9 makes your two pair better than Kourtney's -- pending his last card, of course. So, Deej, let's see Jay's last card.
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: The 9 of Clubs for two pair. Kourtney, you need another Jack or Queen for a full boat. Let's see Kourtney's last card now.
KOURTNEY
JAY
Doug: The 10 doesn't work. Jay wins the round.
KOURTNEY JAY ![]()

(winning bells; audience applause)
Doug: Well, Jay, congratulations. We'll give you a shot to win 5000 shortly -- and then you're off to Joker Poker. Kourtney, hope you enjoyed your visit with us. We give you CY$10 a point and add that to your earlier winnings for a total of CY$3200 -- and all this applause.

Doug: Well, Jay, your two pair ended up better than Kourtney's. And now you have a chance to virtually double your total. CY$5000 is hiding behind one of the letters in "POKER". Which letter?
Jay: I'll try the R at the end.
Doug: R at the end. Come on, let's see 5000 behind R.
