Video Poker Doug: OK, time for me to introduce my co-host who will introduce the players. D.J. Hamilton, come on down!
(TPiR "come on down" cue plays) (audience cheers)
(cut to D.J., already seated in the audience wearing blue jeans and a "I (heart) BOB" t-shirt, jumps out of her chair, screams and runs up to the stage)
D.J.: Hey, where's the Plinko? (audience laughs) Where's Bob? Did he retire already?
Doug: Not quite. And we're not going to play Plinko either.
D.J.: Well what are we going to play then?
Doug: Poker Game, of course. :) (audience groans) Sure, you like her jokes but not mine! Anyway, Deej, who's here to play Net Poker.
D.J.: Well, our players tonight are Alan Timper, Kourtney Wilson and our champion with one win and CY$4500, Jay Cross.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT
D.J.: OK, in all seriousness, as ya'll know, Bob Barker is retiring as host of "The Price is Right". Many shows have come and gone over the last three and a half decades of daytime television -- but one of the few constants has been Bob. So, the five toss-up questions in Video Poker are all related to Bob and the show. Each correct answer is worth 10 points and after the fifth question, we'll go to the video screen where you'll try to, shall we say, "stack the deck".
Doug: I'm not even going to try to top that. Good luck and away we go. These questions are not necessarily multiple choice, by the way...
A good handful of pricing games -- such as Poker Game -- are revolved around playing cards, based on card games or both. Hit Me, as another example, was based on what card game where the player tries not to go over a score of 21?
Doug: Jay.
Jay: Blackjack
Doug: That's right.

Doug: Champ scores first. Next question for all.
In the retired pricing game Bump, prices were printed on four miniature vehicles. These vehicles resembled what form of transportation commonly found in London?
Doug: Alan.
Alan: Double Decker Buses
Doug: And that doubles your score to 20. (audience applause) Kourtney, let's see if you can make this a three-way tie.
Spelling Bee is a pricing game where overbidding on a prize is allowed. Name three other pricing games, active or retired, where you could overbid on a grocery item or any prize and still theoretically have a chance to win that pricing game.
Doug: Alan again.
Alan: Cliffhangers, Checkout, Clock Game
Doug: We'll take those answers.

Doug: In Cliff Hangers, if you overbid by $25 on one item and priced the other two correctly, that's a win. Check-Out's rules clearly allow for overbidding; if your total is within $2.00 above or below the actual total prices of the groceries, you win. And Clock Game's certainly spoken for.
Other answers we could've taken -- remember Walk of Fame? You could overbid on each prize and as long as you were within the prescribed range, you won. And a game we in the internet game show community often call "Bullseye I", where you had seven chances to bid on a car and had to price it correctly to win, was a good answer; it was later "Two-Player Bullseye".
And... uh... well, that's our show for tonight. Good night, everybody. (audience laughs) Just kidding. We play on.
The first theme song to the pricing game Safe Crackers was also "The Pink Panther" theme, composed by what Academy Award winner?
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: Henri Mancini
Doug: That's right.

Doug: OK, one more question on the way for 10 points...
Celebrities have made cameo appearances throughout the last 35 years on "The Price is Right" -- including this comedic actor who had a fight scene with Bob in the movie "Happy Gilmore". Name this actor.
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: Adam Sandler
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) OK, after five questions... (TPiR perfect bid bells clang; audience cheers) ...oh! That's always a nice sound. Players, we're going to play one more question. The player who chimes in with the right answer wins a CY$500 bonus. (audience cheers) Now on this question, if you buzz in and miss, your opponents split the 500. This does not apply to the score of the game, by the way. Here's the bonus question...
Bob Barker had a guest-starring role in what short-lived NBC sitcom?
Doug: Alan.
Alan: Something so right
Doug: That answer's so right for CY$500.

Doug: OK, as I was about to say before I was pleasantly interrupted, Kourtney and Alan are tied at 30 points each. Jay has 20. Let's go over to D.J. for an explanation of what's next.
![]()
D.J.: OK, to refresh your memory, behind these numbers are every Ace, face card, 10 and 9 of each of the four suits. You'll each take turns trying to build a poker hand.
On your first turn, you may pick any five numbers and we'll reveal the cards behind them. You may then stop and take the points associated with that combination -- or take your second turn and exchange any or all cards for new ones. Remember, after your second turn, you're stuck with whatever hand you made.
![]()
D.J.: The better your hand, the more points you score. If your hand only has one pair of Jacks or something less, we have to take 5 points away.
Doug: And remember, if you make a natural royal flush in this or any other round, you win CY$100,000, a berth in the Quarter Million Playoff and this fine prize.
Rich: A NEW CAR! (audience cheers) The Dodge Viper SRT-10 Convertible -- an exciting car built for power and precision performance. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, 8.3 liter V10 engine and much more. The Dodge Viper SRT-10 Convertible -- perfect for your next drive along a -- golden road.
Doug: Oh, that's funny. We have a flashback for Rich later in the show, BTW. But for now, Jay, you're the low man on the totem pole. Pick five numbers, please.
Jay: 19, 9, 15, 6, 2
Doug: Let's have a look...
![]()
Doug: Pair of Aces, pair of fish hooks. If you stopped here, you'd collect 10 points and we'd have a three-way tie -- but Kourtney and Alan each get a turn, in that order. So want to take 10 points or make some exchanges?
Jay: I'll exchange #6 and take #5 instead.
Doug: All right, the King goes away. If 5 hides another Ace or Jack, you've built yourself a full boat. Otherwise, it's just two pair for 10 points. Let's see it.
