Video Poker Rich Jeffries: And now, here's the star of Net Poker. Doug Morris.
(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen) (audience respectfully applauds)
Doug: Thank you, Rich. Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts, prayers and notes of condolence over the last few weeks. I'm of the belief there's a place called Heaven -- and I firmly believe Cindy is there and reunited with her father, Marvin, who died more than a decade ago.
The circumstances that bring us to this moment certainly weren't what I had mind for this, the first Net Poker game of 2007. But that is what has transpired. Hopefully, we'll have some fun before all's said and done.
Since we've been away for awhile, a recap is in order. We crowned a new champion the last time out. He played well -- but needed a small dose of extra good luck in order to cash in on a five-figure or even six-figure payoff. Maybe it will happen for him today -- or one of his challengers. Here to introduce our players is one of many who've helped in this time of need -- D.J. Hamilton.
(audience applause) (D.J., dressed in black slacks and a red sweater, gives Doug a big hug)
D.J.: Ya'll, I was excited for Doug and Cindy when they got married -- and was blessed to see them together. You two made a wonderful couple.
Doug: Thank you, Deej.
D.J.: And you know you have a lot of friends to help you get through this.
Doug: Thanks. There's a lot I'm not looking forward to in the weeks ahead. But then there's Net Poker -- and I'm looking forward to see who came to visit us.
D.J.: We welcome back Marc Enyedy who won CY$4250 on the last show, we also welcome back Jay Cross who won CY$250 on a previous episode and joining them on the panel is Joseph Bohan.

Doug: Welcome back, Marc and Jay. We're inviting Jay back because there was a question in a game he played. And we discovered that question had a factual error. Upon review, we determined their was a chance, albeit slight, that the errant question could've cost him the game. So, we're giving Jay the benefit of the doubt and a second chance in the process. Of course, welcome aboard, Joseph.

Doug: And that's five questions. Marc leads with 40. Jay and Joseph tied at 20. Let's go to D.J.

D.J.: OK, players. Behind the numbers are the cards Ace through 9 of each suit. When it's your turn, you'll choose five numbers and we'll reveal the cards behind them.
If you think they make a great hand, take the points associated with the combination and then pass control on to another player. Or if you're not delighted, exchange some or all cards for new ones. But after that second draw, you're stuck with the hand you made.

Doug: And there you see the table. Pair of Jacks or something worse takes 5 points away. Otherwise, the better the hand, the more points you score. And if you make a natural royal flush at anytime in this game, you win CY$100,000 and a Dodge Viper. We'll talk about that later.
Normally, we start with the low scorer. But there's a tie between Jay and Joseph. Player to the left goes first. Jay, that's you, good luck.
Jay: 19, 9, 2, 15, 6

Doug: Just two Jacks -- so you'll want to take the second turn. If you're feeling adventurous, you currently have 2/5 of a royal flush in Diamonds. But it's all up to you.
Jay: I'm not really feeling risky, so I'm going to keep the two Jacks and use 5, 14, and 23.
Doug: Fair enough. Let's see if something good joins the knaves.

(FF reveal sfx) (a few groans)
Doug: Well, a pair of ladies join the Jacks... but...

Doug: ...two pair means just 10 points. So, we'll see you in the next round. Joseph, we're going to shuffle the cards.
![]()
Doug: And now you get to pick five numbers
Joseph: How 'bout 4, 7, 12, 19, and 20?
![]()
Doug: How 'bout 5 points? Something tells me you'll make exchanges. If *you're* feeling daring, you're 2/5 of the way toward a royal in Diamonds. But if you stopped here, you'd secure last place.
Joseph: Let's swap the 9 and the diamonds for whatever's behind 8, 16, and 23.
Doug: OK, holding on to the ladies. What's joining them?
