Net Poker's about to ride again with its 29th episode. A few announcements before we start...

\ This will likely be the last episode for 2006. The winner of this episode's main game will probably defend his/her championship crown on the next episode -- which likely will start sometime after we ring in 2007.

\ We have a new theme to announce. While it won't be part of this episode, a future episode of Net Poker will build questions around an all-visual theme of The Name Game. Each question in this theme involves a pair of famous people. We'll also partially list their names and ask the question as if they're related by blood, marriage or adoption. For example...

If this actress from the television series "Monk"
were married to this professional auto racer, what would her name be?

The actress's name is Traylor Howard and the racer's name is Steve Park. So you would fill in the question marks and respond "Traylor Park".

The question will be written to where you probably don't need to see the visual -- but the pair of photos will always be provided as a help.

\ In another coming attraction, as you've probably heard by now, Bob Barker has announced his retirement from "The Price is Right" effective at the end of this season. We'll build a round of Video Poker questions in a Net Poker episode close to his retirement.

\ We're seeking three new players in this game. This is because Robert McBride retired undefeated on the last show winning more than 200-grand in cyber-cash. We'll see him later in the second Net Poker Quarter Million Playoff. Want to join him? Remember, if you've played in any of the last three main games or on retired status like Robert, please sit on your hand and let someone else win.

To get in on the fun, you've got to get by this qualifying question. The three people closest to the actual numerical answer, high or low, get to play. So, respond with your name, e-mail address you want me to send you Net Poker-related e-mail, a little something about yourself (like real game shows) and your answer to this question.

Before the Southern Miss 2006 Homecoming football game, we asked 50 people, "Before 'Deal or No Deal', Howie Mandel was a cast member of what medical drama?" How many out of the 50 people correctly answered "St. Elsewhere"?

(time passes)

OK, we're all locked in. Some people we surveyed hadn't even heard of "Deal or No Deal" -- so thus, they had no idea of "St. Elsewhere". That said, we found...

QUALIFYING ANSWER
21 PEOPLE

(ding)

...21 people who answered correctly. So, who's the closest?

Marc Enyedy		20

It's Marc, off by one. You'll be our acting champion. Next closest?

Michael Clifford	10
Mat Tanga		10

("Greed" tie sfx)

Doug: Well, both of you. We're just jockeying for position. Player who locked 10 in sooner is "player number two".

Michael Clifford	10

And it's Michael. Mat, you'll be in the third position. Net Poker boldly goes where no man has gone before. That's a hint as to where this is going.

======================================================================

Rich Jeffries: "Star Trek: Enterprise Crash Lands On Uranus"
(audience laughs) will not be seen tonight... (Rich cracks up;
audience laughs with the announcer) ...oh, just start the show!

=====================================================================

(various scenes of casinos, poker tables and poker chips fade one after another as a smooth jazz theme plays)

Rich: From Studio 63, welcome to the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. This is Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Rich: And now, here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!

(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen)

Doug: Thank you, Rich Jeffries and hellooooooo everybody. Welcome to Net Poker. Last time we were together, Robert McBride won more than CY$212,000 plus a new SUV. In the process, he retired undefeated and will be back later in the season for the Quarter Million Playoff. So that means we have three challengers all chomping at the bit to get in on big loot. Here to introduce them is D.J. Hamilton.

("Star Trek: The Next Generation" theme plays as D.J. walks out wearing a blue uniform similar to that of Lt. Moreau in the "Mirror, Mirror" episode of the original "Star Trek" series -- only without the Terran Empire insignia) (her bare midriff look, as usual, draws a few hoots and hollers from the men in the crowd)

D.J.: Reporting for duty, Captain Morris.

(audience laughs)

Doug: Oh, goodness, I don't even have to ask.

D.J.: You know I love "Star Trek" -- we'll talk more about that in a moment. But first, indeed we have three new players. Wisely, they didn't wear red shirts. (audience laughs) Welcome Marc Enyedy, Michael Clifford and Mat Tanga.

MARC
MICHAEL
MAT

(ding) (audience cheers) (ST:TNG theme fades)

STAR TREKKIN'

D.J.: OK, players, the theme for our Video Poker round is "Star Trekkin'".

Doug will name an actor or actress and then two TV series from the long and prosperous "Star Trek" TV franchise. It's up to you to determine if he or she appeared in at least one episode of one, both or neither of the"Star Trek" series Doug mentions. Each correct answer is worth 10 points. And after five questions, I'll see you at the big screen where you can win a lot of Federation Credits.

Doug: Trust me folks, this is something you can really "kling on" to. (audience groans) Now now, don't make me change my phaser's settings.
