Deuces Wild Poker

("Dark Shadows" theme plays)

(camera zooms in on headstone reading "Hans Gudegast: He reached for new heights")

Doug: Oh, that's just wrong. (audience laughs) But this isn't wrong. Here is our champion Robert McBride -- entering our tournament with lots of pride. (audience applause) You were expecting Nipsey Russell? (audience laughs) Seriously, Robert, you have CY$211,600 plus that Land Rover LR3 and a chance to win more.

Doug: You know this drill by now. Ten outlaws hidden behind the numbers. One in the top row, four in the bottom, likelihood that you'll run into an outlaw increases the closer you get to the bottom.

You'll choose one number from each row shortly. Each time you avoid an outlaw, you win a wild Deuce. Win less than four Deuces and you'll try to build a CY$20,000 hand. But we want you to go out in a blaze of glory and win all four Deuces available to you -- that way we ice your cake with the contents of the new Outlaw's Jackpot which we've seeded with CY$50,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Hit this jackpot and you'll have more than CY$260,000. Not quite a record though. Record for most cyber-money won prior to a tournament belongs to John Menjes with CY$270,500. Good luck, Robert, let's start at the top row. Numbers 1-6, just one outlaw to avoid. Pick a number that's not hiding that row's lone outlaw -- and you win the Deuce of Spades.

Robert: 6

Doug: Number 6. Does he win the Deuce of Spades.

(bing) (audience applause)

Doug: Yes, he does.

Doug: The Bride of Four-ex-stein places your first Deuce on the board. Next row hides two outlaws and you're playing for the Deuce of Hearts.

Robert: 11

Doug: Number 11. Does Robert go two-for-two?

(bing) (audience applause)

Doug: So far, so good.

Doug: Halfway home to another jackpot, Robert. Speaking of "half", it's 50-50 time. Three outlaws to avoid in the third row. You're playing for the Deuce of Clubs this time.

Robert: 13

Doug: Oooh, picking 13 on the Halloween special? Let's see if that was a good move.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Not this time. OK, you've got two wild Deuces. Let's go for three and better the odds of winning 20-grand. Odds of winning the Deuce of Diamonds, however, aren't good since there are four outlaws hiding in that bottom row. Choose carefully.

Robert: Lucky 21.

Doug: Sneaking in a Net Gambit plug? (light laughter from the crowd) Hey, I like that show -- honest. Let's see if 21's luckier than 13 here.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Nope. Well, with two Deuces, you're assured of some cyber-money. We'll talk about that later. First, let's see where the other eight outlaws were.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: And there you have them. Robert, let's start the next phase of the endgame.

Doug: During the break, we had you cut a deck of cards and the first two cards from that deck just came down the chute. In a moment, you'll chose one card for your hand. This time, the card you decline will be discarded immediately. We'll repeat this process with the next two pairs of cards from the top of the deck.

Doug: When all's said and done, we hope you've drawn three cards higher than a 9 and of the same suit -- that way we can give you CY$20,000 for a royal flush. (audience cheers) Still a shot at a considerable addition to your tournament score. Which card do you want first -- left or right?

Robert: Right.

Doug: The right. Let's get this retiring champ off to a good start with a good card, Deej.

D.J.: Looks good to me. (audience cheers) Queen of Hearts.

Doug: OK, the focus of your mission has sharpened...

Doug: ...another face, an Ace or 10 of Hearts you want to see on each of your next two selections.

Doug: And these are your next two cards. Left or right?

Robert: Left.

Doug: The left. Let's see if his drive toward CY$20,000 remains alive.

D.J.: I'd say so. (audience cheers)

Doug: Oh yeah!

Doug: Robert, you know what you want to see in that last space -- a Heart and an Ace or face.

Doug: Deej and I are crossing our fingers. Let's hope at least one of those cards means CY$20,000. Robert, which card?

Robert: Left again.

Doug: The left again.

D.J.: Oh, I'm so sorry, Robert. Great rank, wrong suit.

Doug: Well, that makes a straight. BTW, I'm sure you're curious to see the other card and if it would've made a royal flush. Show us the other card.

(louder groans)

D.J.: Oh, Robert, now I'm super sorry. That would've been a straight flush for CY$5000.

Doug: Well, not the way you wanted to go out. But, as Deej places the Ace on the board...

Doug: ...that means an icing on your cake of CY$750. We'll add that to your previous winnings. Robert, this means you're taking home our great thanks, best wishes *and*...

Doug: ...CY$212,350. (audience cheers) Still the second highest cyber-money total in regulation play on Net Poker. Congratulations and we'll see you later in the Quarter Million Playoff. Oh, and one more thing. Igor?

(Igor hands Robert car keys)

Doug: These are the keys to your Land Rover LR3. Drive safely. One more time before tourney time, a big hand for Robert McBride.

(audience cheers)

Doug: This means on the next show, we'll crown a new champion and he or she will play for the Outlaw's Jackpot that increased by CY$2500 for each outlaw Robert ran into. That means the reward is up to CY$55,000.

(audience cheers)("Dark Shadows" theme plays)

Doug: When we come back, we'll give three lucky members of the audience a chance to win -- when Net Poker's Halloween special mercifully draws to a conclusion.
