Welcome to Game 25 of Net Poker -- our silver episode. Here's what's on tap...
\ Dustin Riley will defend his championship crown. On the last show, he won CY$12,750 and a trip to San Antonio, Texas.
\ Michael Clifford is also coming back due to an irregularity. He has so far won CY$64,750 and a lot of prizes. Since he didn't really lose his last game, he will still receive CY$100,000 and a new car plus clinch a Quarter Million Playoff berth should he win this episode's Joker Poker round. (Michael, a huge favor. Please respond to dougm@c-gate.net and ijsmstudent@yahoo.com to let me know if you're ready to play.)
\ Also at stake in Joker Poker, a payoff of up to CY$10,000 and a trip to San Francisco. Plus, we guarantee the winner of Joker Poker will receive his weight in virtual silver!
\ Because we have, essentially, two returning champions in this episode, we are amending Video Poker rules slightly for this episode only. In the event after five questions there is any tie, we will break the tie with a "control question". The control question plays like a normal 10-point toss-up question in Video Poker -- except the control question has no additional point value; it's simply worth the right to take command of the video screen sooner than someone else. Further, if there's a tie for second place at the end of Video Poker, those in the tie play a control question for the right to cut the cards in 5-Card Poker.
\ Time permitting, toward the end of this episode, we'll play our souped up Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge. Trust me, *much* more than CY$20,000 could be won.
\ Remember, this is Game 25. If you played in the main game of our 22nd, 23rd or 24th episode or on retired status, please sit on your hands and let someone else try. Go to www.dougmorris.net/poker and click on "archives" if you can't remember when the last time you played.
...now, because we've already got two slots filled for the upcoming main game, we only seek one player. As always, to play, send me your name, e-mail address you wish to have Net Poker e-mail sent to you, a self-bio (like real game shows) and your answer to the qualifying question. The closest to the right answer, high or low, plays against Dustin and Michael. Here we go...
On July 11, 2005 at 5:00pm CDT, I must've been in a body cast -- as I watched an i (formerly PAX TV) rerun of Shop 'Til You Drop. In the bonus game, the two-player team accumulated how much in prizes? Please respond to the nearest dollar. And here's a hint -- they didn't achieve their goal of $2500 in prizes.
(time passes)
Well, we've tried just about... (Michael walks in) ...ooohh! Michael's arrived. Glad to see ya back, buddy. Well, now there's just room enough for one challenger. The answer to the qualifier.
QUALIFYING ANSWER
$1711
Seventeen-eleven. Now, who came the closest?
Robert McBride $1750
Ah, our first champ. BTW, while I'm thinking about it, there's *another* champion who hasn't lost and we've lost touch with. He's Noiel Spearman. Noiel, gimme a shout sometime and we'll work you back in and try to position you where you left off. Now, I'm about to make an executive decision for the next closest player.
Matt Taylor $1560
Matt, you were "on standby" for so long and we were just about to tell you the good news you'd make this show -- and Michael just arrived. So, tell ya what we'll do. We'll hold a place for you in Game 26, OK?
Hope everyone's happy. Net Poker -- next!

Rich Jeffries: These are tonight's three contestants. They're here to play the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. This is Net Poker.

Rich: And now, from Studio 63, here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!
(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen)
Doug: Thank you, Rich Jeffries -- and welcome to Net Poker. Tonight, we welcome back in essence two champions -- as well as a challenger. To explain it all and welcome them is D.J. Hamilton.
(audience cheers) (D.J. walks out wearing a dark green strapless dress)
D.J.: Thank you, Doug. Indeed, let's get right to the player introductions. Dustin Riley won our last game, a trip to San Antonio and CY$12,750. (audience cheers) Michael Clifford's back due to a technical error. He has two wins and a bunch of prizes including trips to Washington, D.C. and the British Virgin Islands; Michael's also won CY$64,750 and is still eligible to win the car and another CY$100,000 should he win tonight's Joker Poker round. (audience cheers) And rounding out our panel with eyes on big prizes is Robert McBride. Welcome all of you.
