Audience Game As we page all our contenders for the Net Poker Quarter Million Playoff (QMP), some notes...\ In the event we are able to start the tournament on the next show, we've already got a full slate of main game contestants for the 26th main game. (Dustin Riley, due to him bowing due to illness, he tells me he's feeling better, BTW; Robert McBride, who lost this shortened main game due to Round 2's cancellation caused by Dustin's illness; Matt Taylor, who was our standby contestant in this episode and was just about to be "on the air" when Michael surfaced at the last second.)
\ In case we're not able to start the tourney on the next show, we'll play Game 26 instead and keep playing "normal" episodes 'til all hands on deck are ready.
\ Either way, Game 26 starts qualification for the *second* Net Poker QMP.
...now then, let's play an audience game. Remember, it's free and open to anyone. Just be one of the three players closest to the right answer, high or low, to this...
What percentage of Americans say they have a roll of toilet paper in their car?
(time passes)
My next question -- why? Anyway the answer, please...
QUALIFYING ANSWER
37%
Thirty-seven percent? That's too much! Oh, wait, wrong show. In any event, who's the closest?
Michael Clifford 55%
Sheesh, I guest CY$168,000 and change wasn't enough fer ya. :) Next closest is...
Erskine Thompson 8%
...Erskine Thompson. And last but not least...
John Montagnino 0%
...heh, I didn't think that would work. But it did, John. Net Poker continues after this.
====================================================================== (soap opera organ music plays in the background to the tune of the current "Lingo" theme) Jay Converse: (in doctor's uniform) Yup, just what I suspected -- you have Lingo. Female patient: Ugh. And I feel worse -- W-O-R-S-E. Jay: We'll have to take some X-rays for further examination. Female patient: Doctor, would -- W-O-U-L-D -- this require me to take off my shirt -- S-H-I-R-T? Jay: Uhh... ya don't have to... but... Voice guy: Net Lingo with Jay Converse. Addicting word game fun on VBS. ======================================================================D.J.: Welcome back to Net Poker -- where three contestants are about to play Pirate Poker. Michael Clifford will try to add to his winnings against Erskine Thompson and John Montagnino.

Doug: Thanks, D.J. Greetings, folks. The player with the most cyber-cash at the end of the second round of this game gets to take on our new Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge -- where now *more than* CY$20,000 can be won as well as some great prizes. Before one of you deals with the outlaw, all three of you get to deal with a pirate.
Let's look at the video screen...

Doug: Michael, you're Player #1 and the big screen just dealt you an Ace high straight. Erskine, you're the second player and you've been dealt a pair of 10s. John, Player 3, you've got a pair of 9s.
Now, the pirate has been dealt the Jack of Spades and four other cards face down. Here's the situation. You may take CY$250 right now and not challenge the pirate -- or decline the 250 and try to see if your hand is better than the pirate's. If you do challenge and come up with a winning hand, you'll either win or share in CY$1500.
So, do you want to challenge the pirate -- yes or no?

Doug: Everyone wants to challenge the pirate. Very well. Let's see if you're all winners. Show us the rest of the pirate's hand.
![]()
Doug: Pair of Jacks. Michael's straight wins. Erskine's pair does not; likewise John. Michael only wins all CY$1500.

Doug: OK, second and final round. New deal.
![]()
Doug: This time, Michael has a pair of 9s, Erskine a pair of Kings and John a pair of Queens. Pirate's showing a King. Again the question -- challenge the pirate or take a CY$250 sure thing.
Remember, highest cyber-cash score goes on to the Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge. Erskine and John, best hope is that you challenge, only one of you wins and you end up in a tie-breaker with Michael.

Doug: Michael -- takes the 250 and wouldn't you know, he's going to win no matter what. Erskine and John, you're playing for pride. Let's see if we can send you out of here with CY$750 each.

Doug: And your hands win.

Doug: (clears throat) Memo to self, put this game back in the shop. (light laughter from the crowd) Erskine and John, sorry this didn't turn out better -- but you each take CY$750 home and our thanks for playing.
(audience applause) (Erskine and John return to their seat)
