Joker Poker

Doug: Welcome back to Net Poker. Michael rejoins us in Joker Poker.

MICHAEL
GUS

Doug: This round plays just like the last round -- except there are now two Jokers in the deck. If you control a Joker, you may use it for anything when your hand is complete. Remember, the winner of this round wins the game and plays for lots of loot -- including CY$10,000 and a trip plus the Outlaw's Jackpot of CY$72,500. (audience cheers) So, let's dive right in and see the first two cards of the deck.

D.J.: And we'll start with two low cards -- the 9 of Clubs and the 10 of Diamonds.

Doug: Michael cut the cards, by the way, because of his win in the first round. Good luck, Michael and Chris. Here's the first 10-point question...

"Calliope"/Calliope was...
\ a children's show on USA Network
\ a character played by Arleen Sorkin on Another World
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: a children's show on the USA Network

Doug: And it was hosted by some guy named Gene. You're right.

MICHAEL
GUS

(audience applause)

Doug: OK, Michael. You're on the board first with 10 points. Which card?

Michael: I'll take the 10.

Doug: BTW, I almost forgot to note Arleen's Calliope was on Days Of Our Lives...

MICHAEL

GUS

Doug: ...in any event, Gus gets a nine out of that deal. Next two cards of the round are on the way...

D.J.: The 10 of Spades and the Jack of Clubs.

Doug: Well, slight improvement from the last pair. Next question's a bit long -- so play carefully.

When listing all of the college football teams in the Southeastern Conference, you'll find out there's more than one team with the nickname...
\ Bulldogs
\ Tigers
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Gus buzzes in)

Doug: Gus.

Gus: Bulldogs?

Doug: Not right. Michael, chance to steal.

Michael: all of the above

Doug: That's the right choice. (audience applause) The University of Georgia and Mississippi State each have teams named Bulldogs. Auburn and LSU are both known as Tigers. All right Michael, you choose another card.

Michael: Well, I'll just hope that another Jack doesn't show up. I'm going to make my pair. Give me the 10.

Doug: Very well...

MICHAEL

GUS

Doug: ...I probably would've done the same thing. Two more cards on the way.

D.J.: The Joker and the 10 of Clubs.

(a few yeahs and claps from the crowd)

Doug: Well, Michael will have trip 10s either way. Gus, you sure could use the points. Next question...

Lake Bell is...
\ located in New England
\ located in Boston
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Gus buzzes in)

Doug: Gus.

Gus: All of the above?

Doug: Nope. Michael, another chance to steal.

Michael: none of the above

Doug: Lake Bell is the name of an actress who was on Boston Legal and can now be seen on NBC's Surface. So, none of the above's right.

MICHAEL
GUS

(audience applause)

Doug: Michael, you've got all the points so far. Which card now?

Michael: Even though I am passing up a 10 of Clubs, I can't let Gus have the Joker, so I will take the Joker myself.

Doug: A wild card for Michael...

MICHAEL

GUS

Doug: ...Gus, you have the makings of a straight -- perhaps a straight flush. So you're not out of this yet. Next two cards on the way.

D.J.: The Queen of Diamonds and the Jack of Diamonds.

Doug: And let's test your sports knowledge this time...

On August 4, 1985, professional baseball's...
\ Tom Seaver recorded his 3000th hit as a batter
\ Rod Carew gained his 300th win as a pitcher
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: none of the above

Doug: That's it. (audience applause) It's all true the other way around. Tom Seaver of the Chicago White Sox gained his 300th victory and Rod Carew of the then *California* Angels got his 3000th hit. OK, Michael, big lead. Which card?

Michael: I can't let Gus have a straight draw, so I will take the Queen.

Doug: And with that...

MICHAEL

GUS

Doug: ...Gus isn't out of this. However, he has quite a hill to climb...

Doug: ...first, Gus, you have to buzz in and answer the upcoming 15 point question correctly. Then, you have to hope a Jack is among this final pair and there's something useless for Michael. In the event Gus score the 15 on this question and then 25 for the high hand, we'll go to the dice table and break the tie.

Michael, in your case, a correct answer seals the deal -- and puts you back in Deuces Wild. Here's the question for 15...

"Just because I rock doesn't mean I'm made of stone," is a line from...
\ a Jim Carrey movie
\ the movie Bruce Almighty
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael for the game.

Michael: a Jim Carrey movie

Doug: That's right -- and you win again.

MICHAEL
GUS

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: The Jim Carrey movie that had that quote was Me, Myself & Irene. Well, Michael, you've won again. Now, we normally don't do this -- but I wonder what would've happened had Gus scored the 15. Deej, go ahead and flip both cards over and let's see if we had a Jack up there and if it was possible for the challenger to create a tie.

D.J.: (after flipping both cards over) The Queen of Clubs and 9 of Hearts.

Doug: Oh, man. Gus, I'm terribly sorry to see your visit end in a shutout. But, you still get to take home the CY$2000 you won in the earlier round. We'll kick in CY$50 more as a consolation prize. You take that along with our thanks for playing Net Poker.

(audience applause)

Doug: OK, Michael. You're champ again. You'll play for a huge jackpot shortly. First, let's play for CY$10,000. This time, you'll select two letters in the word "POKER". Find the two highest amounts -- CY$5000 and CY$2000 -- and we'll throw in that three-grand bonus for CY$10,000.

Michael: I will take the P & the R.

Doug: P and R. Let's start with P.

(bing)

Doug: Well, lowest prize on the board. What are we coupling with the 500?

(bing)

Doug: Another CY$1000. OK, let's play for a trip.

SELECT SAME RANK

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Michael, the video screen just dealt you the King of Hearts and four other cards. It also wants you to do draw another King -- hence the prompt "select same rank". If you pick a number that's hiding another King, you'll win this.

(vacation music plays)

Rich: A cruise of the British Virgin Islands (audience cheers) You and a guest will enjoy 10 days of casual sailing on this Windjammer Barefoot Cruise of the British Virgin Islands for old salts and landlubbers. Also on this trip, enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling and the white-sandy beaches of the British Virgin Islands. Take off your shoes and sail away to paradise -- with Windjammer Barefoot Cruises.

(music fades)

Doug: Wow. Another great trip. You've already won that trip to Washington, D.C. Now let's see if you can win this cruise. Where's the other King?

Michael: I think that the other King is behind 4.

Doug: Number 4. Show us what's behind 4.

SELECT SAME RANK

(winning bells; audience cheers)

Doug: All right!

MICHAEL
GUS

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: Total of CY$34,650 plus two trips. Michael, we're going to go into the audience and let them win. Of course, you and Gus are welcome to join in -- as well as Chris. After the audience game, Michael, you'll play for the Outlaw's Jackpot of CY$72,500.

Don't go away, friends. More fun's on the way on Net Poker.

(audience cheers)
