Doug: Well, Chris, you've created a three-way tie -- but it will not be this way for long. Now, at the end of the first half of Video Poker, Michael and Gus were tied for the lead. Since that tie for the lead involved the champ, Michael will now take command of the screen. First, of course, we have to shuffle.

Doug: And before you take command of the board, introduce yourself to any members of the Net Poker audience who haven't seen you in action.
Michael: My name is Michael Clifford. I am from Marlton, New Jersey. I am currently unemployed. I like watching game shows & playing netgames. BTW, Sterling Marlin drives for Chip Ganassi now. I believe Ganassi bought out Sabates or something like that.
Doug: Ah, OK. Well thanks for helping clear that up. Pick five numbers, please.
Michael: I will take 20, 4, 24, 11, & 1.
Doug: All righty then...

Doug: ...a pair of Aces and King-Queen-Jack. You could take 5 points for the pair if you want -- or take your second turn and make exchanges.
Michael: I'll get rid of the King, Queen, & Jack & I will take 6, 7, & 19.
Doug: OK, he's assuring himself of an extra nickel by hanging on to the Aces. What joins them?

Doug: Two Jacks and a lady join the bullets.

Doug: Which means as control passes to Gus...
![]()
Doug: ...you'll need at least two pair to tie. Three of a kind or a better hand to win the round.
Gus: Let's try 6, 11, 14, 16, and 21.
Doug: OK, let's see if that puts together a combination that will put more points on your scoreboard...
![]()
Doug: ...um, no. Two 10s with a King-Queen-9 means I'd have to dock you five points. So, go ahead and make exchanges.
Gus: Toss back the queen and the nine and take 1 and 24.
Doug: Hmm, OK. I might have also tossed out the King in the process. Perhaps you've got a feeling about this. Remember, if another pair joins your 10s and King, we go to a tiebreaker. Anything better than two pair wins the round. Worse that two pair means Michael wins the round. Let's see 1 and 24.

Doug: Nothing doing. An Ace and Jack. Michael wins the round.

Michael: I'll go with the E.
Doug: The E it is. And behind the E we find...
