Doug: We'll see you in the next round. Control now passes to our champ, John. First, let's shuffle the cards.

Doug: And the board's ready for you. Five numbers, please.
John: 2, 10, 16, 21, 24
Doug: And you're starting off with...

Doug: ...two pair as well. Now, if *you* stopped here, you'd win 10 more points and be in a tie for first with Rick. But then Rick would either lose 5 points or gain at least 5 on his possession. What's your pleasure?
John: Well, let's take the 10 points. Hopefully, Rick will win or lose 5 points.
Doug: Ummm... OK... I would've tried to do something similar to what Jay did. That being keep the two pair and try to make a full house. But...

Doug: ...you elected to stop and Rick, you get control now as we shuffle.

Doug: And before we turn you loose, tell us about yourself.
Rick: I'm from Spokane, WA, where I'm a school bus attendant, working with special needs children. In my spare time, I enjoy pro wrestling and NASCAR, and I'm a Kurt Busch fan.
Doug: Ah, the 2004 champion. Working hard to retain that crown, I know. Rick, score any points at all and you win this first round.
Rick: Give me 16, 3, 21, 8, & 14.
Doug: OK, let's take a look...

Doug: Well, you have the makings of a straight. Turn one of the Jacks into a King and you'd have 20 points more. Of course, even if you kept the Queen at 21 or Ace at 16, dumped everything else and ended up with a net result of a pair of Aces or Queens, you'd still win the round. (holds up car keys) And if you're feeling really daring, there's this car if you find an Ace, King and Jack of Hearts to go with the two Hearts you already have.
How do you play it?
Rick: An inside straight isn't my cup of tea. I'll keep the jacks, and go with 6, 17 & 23.
Doug: All righty. Trying to find another Jack or any pair. This will decide who goes straight to the Joker Poker round. Let's see what happens as we reveal 6, 17 and 23.

Doug: Two cowboys with two knaves. Rick wins the round.

(winning bells; audience applause)
Doug: Well, if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time each player made the same combination. You each scored 10 additional points with two pair. In any event, Rick, you're the winner and now...

Rick: I'll pick the O.
