Video Poker

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Nothing of great significance.

JOE
JOHN
CHRIS

Doug: But you played it right, Chris. Now you have to hope John loses five on his possession and Joe doesn't do particularly well. Joe, you're next up to bat after we shuffle the cards.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: Now, before you make any selections, Joe, since your championship reign will end, win or lose, we give you a chance to say hello to anyone you'd like.

Joe: I would first like to say hello to all the folks who have lent their support to NetShowdown. I have not been that great at keeping up with the game as of late due to my new job, but your support of the show is invaluable, and I am greatly honored to be part of it.

I would also like to send a big shout out to all my friends watching from the PYLP. Big ups to everyone.

And of course, Amy Jo, if you're watching...I love ya.

D.J.: And, also, Amy Jo, if you're watching, it shouldn't surprise you to learn in Joe's dressing room at ShowDown, there's a wall of nothing but pictures of you.

(audience laughs)

Joe: Deej, how in the world did you get into my dressing room anyways?

D.J.: Door was open as the janitor was cleaning it up. Couldn't help but notice your Amy Jo shrine.

Doug: We expect nothing less from you, Joe. In any event, you know the drill.

Joe: Okay, Doug, let's have 4, 9, 10, 26 and 24.

Doug: Um, care to fire that cannon again? (audience laughs) We only have numbers 1-24.

Joe: OOPS. Let's have 4, 9, 10, *16* and 24.

Doug: Whatever you're drinking, I want a sip. (audience laughs) What's behind 4, 9, 10, 24 and 16?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Pair of ladies. That's the bare minimum requirement for scoring any points at all. Joe, you may stop here, take the 5 points and then hope John loses 5 -- resulting in a three-way tie-breaker -- or you may make exchanges.

Joe: Doug, I'll keep the queens and go with 2, 6 and 20.

Doug: OK, another smart move. What joins the lizadies?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Again, no appreciable gain.

JOE
JOHN
CHRIS

Doug: As a result, Joe and Chris are tied for second. John, you'll control the screen after we shuffle the cards.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: Now, as long as you don't lose 5 points, you win the round. Before you make any selections, tell us about yourself.

John: Hey Doug, I'm John Montagnino from PA. I am a Video Production Owner and a student. I enjoy music, GSN, watching classic movies, computers and eventually video games.

Doug: Well, you're about to play a video game of our own -- by selecting five numbers.

John: 1, 23, 12, 6, 5

Doug: All righty. Let's take a look...

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Well, *this* is interesting. John, if you stopped here, we'd have to take five points away -- and then break a three-way tie with Dice Poker. So, it's either we take five points away -- or you make exchanges.

John: Let's remove the 10 of clubs, 10 of diamonds and 9 of hearts. Replace them with cards 7, 13 and 20.

Doug: OK, hanging on to the Ace and King. Does he win the round or do we play Dice Poker?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Found another Ace. You win, John.

JOE
JOHN
CHRIS

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: OK, John. Chance to win CY$5000 and maybe more as we look at the video screen again.

Doug: Behind the letters in the word "POKER" are cyber-cash prizes ranging in value between CY$500 and CY$5000. Above one of the letters in "POKER" is a card that says "trip".

In a moment, you'll choose one letter in "POKER". You'll instantly win whatever is behind your selected letter. And if the "trip" card appears above your selected letter, you'll win this great trip. Jay Stewart's ghost, what's the destination?

(vacation music plays)

TGoJS: A trip to Jamaica. (audience cheers) You and a guest will fly first class, round trip to Negril, Jamaica where you'll spend six nights at a luxury hotel. Lay on the beach, snorkel, dive, fish or sail in this thriving vacation paradise. Enjoy Jamaica -- compliments of Club Universe.

(music fades)

Doug: Nice trip indeed. Pick a letter and good luck.

John: K

Doug: Let's see if K hides five-K...

(bing)

Doug: ...more like one-K. What about the trip?

(bing)

Doug: Above P. (smooth jazz theme plays) John, the CY$1000 is yours to keep no matter what happens and that trip's up for grabs in the next round. Joe and Chris, standby for the elimination round of 5-Card Poker -- when Net Poker comes back.

(audience applause)
