Joker Poker

Doug: We're back for more of Net Poker. It's Joe vs. Robert in Joker Poker.

JOE
ROBERT

Doug: Joe won the first round of our game and got to cut the cards during the break. Players, remember, there are two Jokers in the deck -- along with every Ace, face card, 10 and 9. If you draw a Joker, you can use it for anything when your poker hand is complete. High scorer at the end of the round wins the game and the championship and the chance at our CY$52,500 Outlaw's Jackpot in Deuces Wild Poker.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Lacey -- er, uh -- Deej. (audience laughs) What are the first two cards?

D.J.: Yeah, yeah, whatever...

D.J.: ...maybe the real Lacey can hook me up with one of those rejected bachelors, if you know what I mean. Anyway, the Jack of Clubs and the 10 of Hearts.

Doug: And here's the first question in the round. Good luck and away we go...

On Mount Rushmore, you'll find an image of...
\ George Washington
\ Franklin Delano Roosevelt
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: George Washington!

Doug: That's right.

JOE
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: Ten points for you, Robert, and the choice of card.

Robert: The Jack.

Doug: The knave is yours...

JOE

ROBERT

Doug: ...and Joe gets the 10 of Hearts by default. Two more cards are on the way...

D.J.: The 9 of Diamonds and the Queen of Spades.

Doug: And with the next question, we turn back the clock to the '60s...

In the year 1966,
\ Frank Gifford retired from playing professional football
\ "Kind Of A Drag", a song by The Buckinghams, reached #1
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Joe buzzes in)

Doug: Joe.

Joe: none of the above

Doug: And we have a tie score.

JOE
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: Gifford retired in 1965. "Kind Of A Drag" topped the charts in 1967. OK, Joe, which card.

Joe: Let's have the Queen, Doug.

Doug: The Queen's yours...

JOE

ROBERT

Doug: ...and Robert gets the 9. Third pair of up cards are on the way.

D.J.: We now have the 9 of Clubs and the Ace of Hearts.

Doug: Either way, Joe will be 3/5 of the way toward a straight. Robert could have a pair of 9's. It all depends on who gets control after this question...

Kurt Russell appeared in the movie...
\ Silkwood
\ 3000 Miles To Graceland
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: All of the above.

Doug: He was in both movies.

JOE
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: OK, Mr. Net Gambit, which card?

Robert: The nine.

Doug: Probably good strategy...

JOE

ROBERT

Doug: ...I'm sure it wasn't easy giving up an Ace like that. But that's what had to happen. Our fourth pair of cards are coming.

D.J.: The King of Spades and the Joker.

(a few oohs from the crowd)

Doug: Man, this could get interesting. Ten points and choice of card the value of this...

Legendary golfer Arnold Palmer has won a...
\ British Open
\ PGA Championship
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Joe buzzes in)

Doug: Joe.

Joe: British Open. I've never heard of a PGA Championship.

Doug: Nicely solved, Joe.

JOE
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: Tie ball game, Joe. As if I have to ask, which card?

Joe: It's Jack Barry Time! Gimme the Joker

(Doug tries whistling The Joker's Wild theme ... to no avail)

(audience laughs)

JOE

ROBERT

Doug: So much for my whistling. As we go to the blind card question, Joe as at worst two Aces. Robert has at least a pair of 9s. Let's bring in the fifth pair face down.

Doug: We have another 20-20 tie -- so control of the cards is what you're really after. For 15 points...

The movie Red Dawn was...
\ the first motion picture to receive a PG-13 rating
\ about high school students fighting a Communist invasion of America
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Joe buzzes in)

Doug: Joe.

Joe: all of the above.

Doug: Right for 15.

JOE
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: August 10, 1984 marked the first debut of a PG-13 movie -- that being Red Dawn. Joe, you have the lead for now. But 25 points hang in the balance. Pick a card.

Joe: Lemme have the one on the right.

Doug: Right card it is...

JOE

ROBERT

Doug: ...now Robert, a Joker or 9 would give you three of a kind. A King or Jack gives you two pair. Anything else and we'll know Joe wins. So, Deej, please flip over Robert's last card first.
