Video Poker

Doug: So, with all the disclaimers out of the way, let's start Video Poker. Let's spot you each 10 points.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(ding)

Doug: And we'll play five toss-up questions each worth 10 points each. Chime in with the right answer and you win the 10. Anytime you buzz in and choose a wrong answer, your opponents can steal the points with the right answer. After five questions, we'll give you each a chance to win more at the video screen. Right now, let's start the round with the questions...

Abner Doubleday invented the sport of...
\ basketball
\ hockey
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: None of the above

Doug: Correct.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(audience applause)

Doug: It's generally believed he invented the sport of baseball. Second question on the way...

When making a list of all of the media entities owned by The Walt Disney Company, you must include...
\ ESPN
\ Clear Channel Communications
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Joe buzzes in)

Doug: And that's Joe.

Joe: ESPN

Doug: Everything worth seeing. That's it.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(audience applause)

Doug: While Clear Channel's not a Disney-owned company, they are a Mickey Mouse organization. (audience laughs and applauds) And with that out of the way, Jay, chance for a three-way tie...

In the year 1968,...
\ 20/20 debuted on ABC
\ Graham Nash left The Hollies
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Graham Nash left the Hollies

Doug: Correct.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(audience applause)

Doug: 20/20 didn't debut 'til the mid-'70s. Fourth question is about food...

Wheaties is...
\ "the breakfast of champions", according to an ad campaign
\ the first company ever to use a jingle in its advertising
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: "The Breakfast of Champions" ?

Doug: Not the right choice. Anyone else? (Joe buzzes in) Joe.

Joe: all of the above

Doug: Right answer.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(audience applause)

Doug: Jay, I see you trying to buzz in. The others have hot hands. One more question before we go to the video screen...

The lima bean is named for...
\ Lima, Ohio
\ Lima, Peru
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Jay buzzes in)

Doug: And there's Jay.

Jay: Lima, Peru

Doug: This time, it's Lima time. You're right.

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(audience applause)

Doug: And with that, Robert and Joe are tied for the lead with 30 points each. Jay not far off the lead at 20. We met Jay and Robert on the last show. But, now, let's hear from Joe.

Joe: Hello all hands. I'm the "Game Show Man" Joe Van Ginkel, from Anaheim, CA. I'm currently unemployed, although looking for employment of course, and I've appeared on the 1998 version of "Match Game," as well as GSN's "Russian Roulette." I'm into surfing the 'Net, drawing, playing games, reading, and enjoying the various works of one Amy Jo Johnson.

As many of you also know, I was passed the hosting duties to "NetShowdown" recently. It's been a blast to host, and I appreciate all the good wishes I've been sent by every one.

(audience cheers)

Doug: I know you're taking great care of Net ShowDown. Deej said so. And Deej is about to tell us how we play the next half of the round.

(FF reveal sfx)

D.J.: (looking at board) Um, where's the mystery prize and the 10,000?

(audience laughs)

Doug: (impersonating Jack Benny) Now CUT that out!

(more laughs)

D.J.: Only kidding. Players, behind the numbers are every Ace, face card, 10 and 9 of each suit. You'll each take two consecutive turns at the video screen. On your first turn, pick five numbers and we'll reveal the cards behind the numbers. If your happy with the combination, take the points associated with the hand and pass control to another player. If you think you can do better, take your second turn and exchange any or all cards for new ones. But, whatever you get on your second turn, you're stuck with it.

TGoJS: For your driving enjoyment, IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR! (audience cheers) The Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Go off-road in style in this fantastic car. It comes complete with six-speed manual transmission, a 500 horsepower engine, a huge 15 square-foot sectioned glass sunroof, a rearview camera and much more.

(theme fades)

Doug: All right. Great car indeed. I've got the keys here. The car's in the parking lot. All you have to do is win it. Jay, you're low man on the totem pole. We start with you.

Jay: I'll take 3, 7, 11, 15, and 24.

Doug: And those numbers give us...
