Voice guy: "World News Tonight with Ken Jennings" (audience laughs)
will not be seen this evening -- so that we may bring you a program
where the participants could make news of their own.

(various scenes of casinos, poker tables and poker chips fade one after another as a smooth jazz theme plays)

The ghost of Jay Stewart: From Studio 63, welcome to the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. This is Net Poker. (audience cheers) And now here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!

(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen)

Doug: Thank you, ghost of Jay Stewart and hellooooooo, everybody. Time to deal out more fun on Net Poker. We have a returning champ and a returning challenger on the panel tonight. To introduce them and the newcomer, here's our dealer, D.J. Hamilton.

(audience cheers) (D.J. walks out wearing a uniform similar to that of the dealers from the first season of CS86)

Doug: OK, I have to ask. Why the get up?

D.J.: I bet our seamstress couldn't come up with a costume that resembled what Lacey and Suzanna wore in the CBS days of Card Sharks. I lost the bet -- but am impressed with the results.

Doug: Indeed. She did a great job. Who's here for Net Poker?

D.J.: Our current champion is Jay Converse. He won CY$8000 on the last show. Our returning challenger is Robert McBride. He won CY$500 on the last show. And also on the panel... is... how do you say this name?

JAY
ROBERT
JOE

(Joe Van Ginkel waves "hi" to Deej) (audience laughs)

D.J.: Joe... Van... Ginkel! Welcome aboard.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Couple of things we should note. There was a question we played in Joker Poker that could have affected the outcome of the game. So, we give Robert the benefit of the doubt and a second chance.

Also, as I trust you know, after a two-year stint on Net ShowDown, I relinquished the ShowDown dice to Joe Van Ginkel. He and Deej have been working on that project and before the show, we had Joe swear on a VHS copy of an episode of The Division that he has no advanced knowledge of any of the questions to be asked. And if you know Joe, you know why he swore on The Division.
