Video Poker

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: ...another red Jack.

BRIAN
JAY
ROBERT

Doug: Nothing gained on the exchange -- but nothing lost either. We still add 10 points to your total and that gives us a three way tie for the moment. Now, at the end of the question half of this round, Jay and Robert were tied for the lead. To loosely quote another game, player to my left takes the tie-break edge in this matter of playing next. So, Jay, you'll take possession of the screen after we shuffle the cards...

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: ...all right, Jay. It's your screen now.

Jay: 4, 9, 12, 15, and 24.

Doug: Okie doke. Let's see what lurks behind the numbers...

(FF reveal sfx)

D.J.: Impressive.

Doug: Indeed it is. Three Queens. Three of a kind adds 15 points to your total. You can take the points or make exchanges and try and do better than 15.

Jay: I'll take the points.

Doug: Um... OK... I might've held on to the Queens and ditched the 9 and Jack and tried to find that fourth lady... but...

BRIAN
JAY
ROBERT

Doug: ...it's your decision and you now have a total of 45 points. Robert, let's shuffle the cards for you...

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: ...three of anything will give you a tie with Jay and then you two will play Dice Poker. Anything better than trips wins. Anything else and Jay wins the round.

Robert: 1, 13, 14, 17 and 22

Doug: OK. Let's see if those numbers are good enough to take the round...

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: ...um... a whole bunch of nothing worth minus-five. So, you might as well take that second turn. I should note if you keep the three Clubs you have and draw the Queen and Jack of Clubs, not only is it "winner, winner, chicken dinner", it's also CY$100,000 and a new car. It's totally your decision. What do you do?

Robert: I'll dump the Ace and go for 2.

Doug: OK, interesting way to play it. Only way you can win the round is if there's a Queen behind 2 for a 20-point straight. Is it there?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Your plan worked, Robert!

BRIAN
JAY
ROBERT

(winning bells; audience applause)

D.J.: Very impressive job, Robert. You get the exemption and the reward. Brian, Jay, this means you gotta go to the boardroom.

Doug: I've been meaning to ask. Are we playing 5-Card in the conference room?

D.J.: Yes, Doug. Like you admitted, you *MUST* come to rehearsal. (audience laughs) Keep this up and *you're* taking the taxi outta here.

Doug: (shakes head) Mother was right. She did say there'd be days like this. (more laughs)

D.J.: Robert, for your reward, I'll give you a chance to collect up to CY$5000. Pick a letter in the word "POKER" and you collect whatever amount is hiding. Plus, if the word "TRIP" appears above your selected letter, you get the Jamaican holiday.

Doug: And behind the P, you're winning...

(bing)

Doug: ...just 500. Do you get to spend that on a Jamaican vacation?

(bing)

Doug: Nope. It was behind the "K". ("The Apprentice" losing team facing the boardroom cue plays) But you still have CY$500. You'll either play against Brian and Jay in Joker Poker.

D.J.: The final two!

(audience laughs)

Doug: What she said. More Net Poker in a moment.
