Time now for Game 17 of Net Poker. And, man alive, it seems like we're starting all over.

As you might have seen, John Menjes retired undefeated and, during his swan song, broke the Outlaw's Jackpot for CY$57,500. So, we start a new bonus pot at CY$50,000.

So, we search for three new players. The three closest high or low get to play. The question...

What percentage of people in Manila are smokers?

(time passes)

And that's time. The actual percentage of those who light 'em up in Manila is...

QUALIFYING ANSWER
73%

(ding)

...seventy-three percent. Now, the closest to the right answer gets to be designated champ and that player is....

Brian Moore 83%

...Brian Moore. He was the closest and was off by 10 percentage points. In the second position is...

Jay Converse 88%

...Jay Converse at 88 and third is...

Robert McBride 50%

...the man who was first crowned Net Poker champ. Robert McBride. Hang tight folks. Net Poker's starting shortly.

Voice guy: "The Apprentice Shines Donald Trump's Shoes" (audience
laughs) will not be seen tonight -- so that we may bring you the
following shining example of fun and games.

======================================================================

(drum roll; montage of winning moments with Andy Silikovitz, Andy Geller and John Menjes)

TGoJS: So far, three contestants have qualified for our Quarter Million Playoff. Tonight's champion will begin a journey toward a fortune in cyber-cash and virtual prizes -- and the last available spot in the Playoff on Net Poker.

(various scenes of casinos, poker tables and poker chips fade one after another as a smooth jazz theme plays)

The ghost of Jay Stewart: From Studio 63, welcome to the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. This is Net Poker. (audience cheers) And now here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!

(Doug walks out from behind the video poker screen)

Doug: Helloooo, everybody and welcome to Net Poker. Nice, lively group here today. I gotta tell ya, you're much better than the audience we had here on the last show. (audience laughs) Another champion retired undefeated on the last program. We welcome three new players to our game. Here to introduce... (looks at prompter; raises eyebrow) uh, it says here, "Here to introduce the players is D.J. Trumpilton." I guess the computer's screwed up.

("For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays plays as D.J. walks out wearing a dark business suit and pink tie; given her hair length, she's not wearing a "Donald wig") (audience cheers)

Doug: Oh, no!

D.J.: Yes, Doug. I'm D.J. Trumpilton. Successful businesswoman and voted among the top 40 business people over 40. After all, I look great for over 40. (hoots and hollers from the men) Silence! (audience laughs) I said, "Silence!" I've invited three candidates here to Studio 63 to compete for a huge payoff -- as well as a chance to work for me.

Doug: As your manicurist, maybe?

D.J.: Silence!

(audience laughs) (Doug rolls eyes and shakes head)

D.J.: Doug, I'm serious, I'm looking for the Net Poker apprentice. The candidates vying for the dream job are Robert McBride, Jay Converse and Brian Moore.

BRIAN
JAY
ROBERT

D.J.: And now, it's time to get to business. Your first task is...

D.J.: ...Video Poker. I'll be generous and give you each ten points.

BRIAN
JAY
ROBERT

(ding)

D.J.: But you have to earn your keep from here. Doug will ask you five toss-up questions about Donald Trump and The Apprentice. If you buzz in and respond correctly, you're 10 points richer. After the questions, you'll each have a chance to earn more points.

The player with the most points gets a reward -- as well as the right to move on to the final two. The losers will meet me in the boardroom -- where someone will be -- dismissed. Doug?
