Doug: ...it's time for our elimination round of 5-Card Poker. During the break, John cut the cards by virtue of his second place finish in Video Poker.
In a moment the first two cards will come down the chute and I'll ask you two a 10-point toss-up question. Chime in with the right answer and you win the 10 points -- plus the choice of one of the cards. Remember, the card you decline goes to your opponent.
We'll play like that with the next three pairs of cards. Then, the fifth pair of cards come down the chute face down -- and we'll play a 15-point blind card question. Score 15 and you pick one more card. We'll then flip all the cards face up -- and the player with the better hand wins 25 points.
High-scoring player advances to Joker Poker to play against Michael. So, let's take a look and see our first two cards from Jess.
Jess: It's not too late for me to get in the loop on that '06 calendar is it?
(some men hoot and holler)
Doug: I'll call Ray during the break.
Jess: OK...
Jess: ...Jack and Ace of Spades.
Doug: Pays 3-to-2 in some other card game. But, here, it could be worth 10 points. Here's the first question in the round, gentlemen, good luck...
Our group of outlaws could tell you the Southern rock group The Outlaws recorded the song...

Doug: And my reaction -- you're right.

Doug: "Dead Skunk" was a hit for Loudon Wainwright, III. OK, champ, which card's starting your poker hand?
John: I'll go for the spade Ace, please.
Doug: Ace of Spades is yours...

Doug: ...this means Jess gives JD the Jack. Try saying that three times fast. (light laughter from the crowd) Next pair of cards are on the way.
Jess: Doug, we're playing with the Jack of Clubs and the 10 of Diamonds.
Doug: All righty. Another 10-pointer's on the way...

Doug: Chicago has the White Sox and Cubs in terms of pro baseball and the Blackhawks in terms of the NHL -- assuming they actually play. (audience laughs and applauds at Doug's editorial remark) Anyhoo, John, which card?
John: The Jack, please.
Doug: Denying JD of a pair...

Doug: ...instead, Jess gives him the 10. And now, we have two more cards on the way.
Jess: Two face cards -- Jack of Hearts and the King of Diamonds.
Doug: Well, one of you will end up with a pair of Jacks after this question. The other will be 3/5 of the way toward a straight. Next question...

JD: All of the above.
Doug: Sorry, not the right choice. John, chance to steal.
John: I'll answer with none of the above
Doug: Not the right answer. The red M&M's were first introduced in '41. Then they *disappeared* in '76; if I'm not mistaken it was due to some harmful chemical used to make the red ones. Later, the reds reappeared in '87.
This means the same up cards are up for grabs with this next question. And it's also about food...

Jess: Queen of Hearts and the Ace of Clubs.
Doug: OK. JD, you'll be 4/5 of the way toward a straight either way going into the blind card question. But what you really want are points and here's another chance at 10...

Doug: ...anything can still happen. The best John can hope for is three Jacks. But, if JD manages to draw a Queen from the blind card question, he'll have a straight and there would be no way John could catch him.
Doug: And as we bring in those blind cards, I should point out if John scores the 15 points on this question, he would win the round because he'd have a majority of the 80 points available in this round. So, good luck to everyone as we go to the 15-pointer...

Doug: Sorry, not the right choice. John, you can win the round if you can tell me.
John: I'll say Jeopardy.
Doug: Perhaps you remember Christie Todd Whitman was on a Power Players week of Jeopardy! In addition, Harold Hoffman was on the panel on the maiden voyage of What's My Line? Whitman and Hoffman each previously served as governor of New Jersey at different points in time. (a few groans) Yes, "all of the above" was the right answer. No harm, no foul, we'll just play a new 15-pointer...

Doug: That's right.
