Deuces Wild Poker Doug: We're back. Chris Wolvie's our new Net Poker champion. He's won CY$10,600 and a trip to Athens, Green. Now, he has a chance to win big in Deuces Wild Poker. Chris, take a look at our video screen...

Doug: ...as we've hidden a total of 10 outlaw cards. There's one outlaw in the top row, two outlaws in the second, three in the third and four in the bottom row.
In a moment, you'll pick one number from each row. Each time you do *not* reveal an outlaw, you win a Deuce. As the name of the endgame implies, Deuces are wild and can be used for anything when your poker hand is complete. The more Deuces you win, the better the chances you win CY$20,000.
Twenty-grand's a nice payoff -- but a mere pittance compared to what you can really win -- our outlaw's jackpot. All you have to do is win all four Deuces and leave all 10 outlaws hidden. Do that and you collect CY$100,000.

Doug: And if you win this jackpot, you'll qualify for the Quarter Million Playoff. Our rules dictate if you win at least 100-grand in cyber-cash, you'll clinch a berth in the playoff. So, essentially, the golden ticket to that tournament is in the jackpot. Good luck, choose carefully and let's go after that jackpot. Let's start at the top row. Numbers 1 through 6. One outlaw to avoid. Do that and you win the Deuce of Spades.
Chris: (rubs hands together) OK,...let's start with number...4
Doug: Starting with 4. Good start?

Doug: Yes it is.

Doug: One down, three Deuces away for the jackpot. Next row down. Numbers 7 through 12. We're playing for the Deuce of Hearts this time.
Chris: Lucky number 7
Doug: Lucky 7. Great name for a pricing game. (light laughter from the crowd) But is it a great move?
![]()
Doug: It is.

Doug: Now, it's 50/50 time, as Bill Griffeth used to say on the FNN quiz show What's News? Three outlaws on the third row. Three other numbers are good. Pick one of the three good numbers and you'll win the Deuce of Clubs and have one more hurdle to cross to get to that jackpot.
Chris: Luckier number 13
Doug: Thirteen it is. Is he still in the running for the Outlaw's Jackpot?

Doug: Oh yeah!

Doug: Three Deuces in hand. Last row. Numbers 19 through 24. The toughest row of all with four outlaws. Pick one of the two good numbers and you win CY$100,000 and a berth in the Quarter Million Playoff. (woos and applause from the crowd) So, for 100-grand, pick a number.
Chris: I know this is poker, but I'm going with the blackjack number: 21
Doug: He picks 21...

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (loud groans from the crowd)
Doug: Oh no!
Chris: NOSE NUGGETS!
Doug: Chris. As you alluded to, 21's a good number in some other card game -- but it proves to be a bust here. (more groans from the audience) Man alive. Well, let's reveal where the other nine outlaws were...

Doug: Numbers 19 and 24 would've lead to the Deuce of Diamonds. OK, let's try to recover from this and concentrate on winning CY$20,000.

Doug: Here's the paytable, Chris. Since you have three Deuces, you're assured of winning CY$2000. But if you can make a royal flush, 20-thou is yours. During the break, we had you cut a deck of 24 cards -- Ace through 9 of everything of course...
Doug: ...first two cards of that deck have come down the chute. You'll choose one and then the other will immediately be discarded. We'll do this one more time with the next pair of cards. For now, left or right card?
Chris: Ah, well, let's go with...left
Doug: The left. What's his first natural card, Deej?
