Doug: Now, since D.J.'s holding the Canada flag, I'll let her explain the theme of the questions for this round.

D.J.: Plain and simple, players. All five multiple-choice questions in this round relate to our neighbors to the north in Canada. Each time you buzz in with the right answer on a question, Doug and I will give you 10 points more. After the fifth question, I'll take you to the video screen where more points can be won. Doug?

Doug: And a quick shout out to Dana Epstein from VBS MarketWatch for preparing these questions. Hands on the buzzers and away we go...

Annually in Canada...
\ Canada Day occurs on July 1st
\ Boxing Day occurs every November 26th
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Chris buzzes in)

Doug: Chris.

Chris: Canada Day occurs on July 1st. Boxing Day's Dec. 26th

Doug: After five questions, Andy's only down by 10. Before we continue, let's met our players. First, Barry, tell us the story of your life in 8 simseconds.

Barry: I'm a badgered and beaten retail video store manager and have been for almost eight years. I enjoy bowling, going to the movies, and I am also the host of Net Wheel!

Doug: Fun net game here on VBS. Welcome aboard, Barry. Welcome back, Chris. For those who missed your previous episode, please tell us about yourself.

Chris: 33, Port St. Lucie, netgame host, photo lab lackey

Doug: And Deej was part of one episode of Trivia On Tap.

D.J.: Indeed. Had fun. Chris, you've got my number in case you come up a barmaid short.

Chris: Deej, you're welcome back at our bar anytime.

Doug: Oh, our former cue card boy, Blinky, is available to wash dishes. (light laughter from the crowd) I think I've got his number here somewhere. And Andy, as usual, whenever a champ's on the verge of winning three straight, we give him or her a chance to say hello to someone.

Andy: I would like to say hello to all my Game Show Friends on the 'Net !

Doug: And you've done it. Now, time for the video screen. Andy and Chris, I know you guys know how this works. We'll explain this for Barry's benefit since this is his first appearance on Net Poker.

D.J.: We're also explaining for any first-time viewers, of course. :)

(FF reveal sfx)

D.J.: You'll each take up to two consecutive turns at the video screen. On your first turn, you'll pick five numbers and the cards behind your selections will make up your poker hand. If you're happy with that hand, take the points associated with that combination and pass control to the next player in line. If you want to make exchanges, you may discard any or all of your cards and draw replacements. Remember, once you're done with your second turn, you're stuck with whatever hand you've made and points you've scored.
