Doug: I thank ya, Deej. Gentlemen, welcome. It's nice seeing Robert again. He was our first champion in regular gameplay here on Net Poker -- a winner of more than CY$8000, as I recall. In any event, here's how we play A Day At The Races. The horses for the first race are at the starting gate now...
![]()
Doug: ...and they are Horse #1, Red Chief -- and Horse #2, Black Beauty. In a moment, you're going to predict which horse will win. And then, D.J. is going to draw cards one at a time from the top of a newly shuffled deck. As always, we're just using the cards Ace through 9 of each of the four suits.
If she draws a card of Hearts or Diamonds, Red Chief will advance one space since they're red suits. If D.J. draws a card of Spades or Clubs, then Black Beauty will move one space since they're black suits.
It takes three successful moves to cross the finish line. And if you pick the winning horse, you'll either win or share in CY$1500. (audience cheers) Remember, there's one more race after this and the player with the most cyber-money takes on the Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge where CY$20,000 can be won! (more cheers)
Right now, players, please predict who you think will win this first race. Is it #1, Red Chief? Or do you think #2, Black Beauty will win? (players lock in their selections)
Doug: And we're all set. Robert, what horse did you pick?
Robert: Red Chief.
Doug: Going for Horse #1. Steve, which horse are you going with?
Steve: I'm votin' Red Chief
Doug: Two for the first horse. Stephen, do you make it unanimous?
Stephen: i think black beauty will win
Doug: Not making it all for 1.

Doug: So, we've got two for 1 and one for 2. Make your own three musketeers joke, if you like. Deej, let's start this race.
(bells ring) ("William Tell Overture" plays)
D.J.: 10 of Diamonds.

Doug: And Red Chief gets off to an early lead.
D.J.: Queen of Clubs
![]()
Doug: And they're running neck and neck. Deej, next card, please.
D.J.: 10 of Clubs
![]()
Doug: Black Beauty's almost home. Horse #2 could win it on the next card.
D.J.: Look at that. Jack of Hearts.
![]()
Doug: And DOWN the stretch... nevermind, probably copyrighted. (audience laughs)
One
more
card,
Deej,
let's

this
first

Doug: And good news for Stephen. You win all CY$1500. Robert and Steve, since your horse didn't win, you each collect CY$50 plus another CY$25 for each space Red Chief moved. So, Stephen's out to an early lead. But it's time for the second and final race...
![]()
Doug: ...two new horses at the starting gate. They're named Face The Facts and Ace The Numbers. Now, we're still playing with the same deck of cards -- and the cards D.J. revealed are out of play.
In this race, if she draws any face card, Face The Facts advances one space. If she draws an Ace, 10 or 9, then Ace The Numbers will advance a space. Still, three spaces forward first wins the race.
So, which horse will it be? Horse #1, Face The Faces -- or Horse #2, Ace The Numbers? Lock in your choices now, please. (players lock in their selections)
Doug: And we're locked in. We'll start with Robert again. Which horse did you pick?
Robert: Face the Facts, Doug.
Doug: One for Face The Facts. Over to Steve, now.
Steve: Since those cards are out, and there were 3 faces and only 2 tens...I'm gonna go with Ace the Numbers, since there are more of them remaining in the deck.
Doug: Counting cards, I see. In some casinos, they'd ask you to leave if they caught ya doing that. But it's OK here. Now to the leader, Stephen.
Stephen: im going to go with face the facts this time

Doug: OK, looks like Robert's just playing for pride. If Face The Facts wins, Robert and Stephen split the CY$1500 and Stephen goes on to the Outlaw's Video Slot Challenge. Steve, if you get it, all CY$1500 are yours and you move on to play for CY$20,000. Deej, let's start the final race of the day.
(bells ring) ("William Tell Overture" plays)
D.J.: King of Hearts.

Doug: And it's Face the Facts getting off to an early lead.
D.J.: Queen of Diamonds.
![]()
Doug: Uh, the starting gate for Horse #2 did open, right? (light laughter) Well, let's see if Face the Facts wins it in a blitz.
D.J.: No. There's the 9 of Clubs.
![]()
Doug: And Ace the Numbers makes his first move.
D.J.: And we've got a winning horse.
![]()
Doug: Well, Steve, unfortunately your strategy didn't work. Stephen's our overall winner.

Doug: Standby Stephen. We'll see if you can turn CY$2250 into CY$20,000. Robert and Steve, because this is our 10th episode, we're feeling generous. Terri has ten CY$100 bills for each of you. (Terri walks out handing a stack of bills to Robert and another stack to Steve)
