Audience Game

(smooth jazz theme plays)

D.J.: Welcome back to Net Poker. It's time to play our first ever audience game. It's Keno and we're playing with Tom Hornikel, Andy Silikovitz and Robert McBride.

(audience applause)

Doug: Thanks, D.J. and welcome players. Each of you could walk outta here CY$3000 richer in Keno and here's the deal. First, take a look at our video screen...

Doug: ...16 Aces and face cards arranged in a four-by-four grid. Each Ace is in its own column and each of the different face cards is assigned its own column. Plus, each Spade, Heart, Club and Diamond is assigned to its own row. In front of D.J. is a deck of 16 cards -- all Aces and faces. When the game begins, she'll start drawing cards one at a time from the top of deck. When a card is drawn, we'll mark the corresponding space here on the video screen. For example, if she draws an Ace of Diamonds, we'll put a mark in the lower left hand corner of the board. We'll keep marking spaces until four of them are marked...

...horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Now, before the game begins, it's up to each of you to predict how the game will end. Will the four spots be aligned horizontonally, vertically or diagonally? Make your predictions now. A correct prediction pays CY$1000. However, since there are only two ways to win diagonally, if you make a correct diagonal prediction, you'll win CY$3000.

Doug: OK, all your predictions are locked in. Tom, we'll start with you.

Tom: Doug, I'll go with vertically. BTW...can I buy the home game version of POKER in stores?

Doug: LOL! We're working on it. We pitched the idea to Endless games and the cheap folks wouldn't even bother to include cards in the game. (audience laughs and applauds) Anyway, Andy, Mr. Moneybags himself, what's your prediction?

Andy: Going with vertically

Doug: Also going with vertically. Robert, do you make it unanimous?

Robert: Horizantally

TOM

ROBERT

Doug: Two going with vertical, one horizontal. All of your predictions are locked in. Deej, let's start Keno.

D.J.: OK.

D.J.: The Ace of Diamonds

(bing)

Doug: And, just like that, we'll mark the lower left spot.

D.J.: King of Spades.

(bing)

Doug: One mark for the top row. We keep going.

D.J.: King of *Diamonds* now.

(bing)

Doug: Halfway to a horizontal or vertical win. Do we see another King or another Diamond?

D.J.: Nope. Jack of Spades.

(bing)

Doug: Now, we're halfway for the win across the top or a diagonal win. Let's keep it going.

D.J.: Ah, plot thickens. Queen of Diamonds

(bing)

Doug: Jack of Diamonds makes for a win across the bottom.

D.J.: Getting close with the Kings' column. King of Clubs.

(bing)

Doug: And if we see the Queen of Hearts mega-soon, it's a diagonal win. What's next, Deej?

D.J.: Close. Queen of *Clubs*.

(bing)

Doug: OK. Getting interesting. We haven't seen any Hearts yet. Will we with the next turn of the card?

D.J.: Nope. Now we get the Jack of Clubs.

(bing)

Doug: Possibilities getting interesting. King of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Ace of Clubs or Jack of Diamonds end this game. Next card, please, Deej.

D.J.: Stick a fork in Keno. We're done.

(bells ring)

Doug: And we've got two winners. Tom and Andy, for your correct predictions, you each win CY$1000. Robert, you don't leave here empty handed. We'll give you CY$50 plus another CY$10 for each space marked. That's another CY$90 for the nine spaces. Total take for you, CY$140. BTW, Andy, with this win, you now have...
