Joker Poker

Doug: Back on Net Poker, before we play our final round, how did you do at home? The voice of Scooby Doo was the late, great Don Messick. And the voice of American Music Magazine in the '80s on the radio was none other than the leader of a cast of idiots, Rick Dees.

NOIEL
ROBERT

Doug: Now, we're on to the championship round, Joker Poker.

JOKER

Doug: Robert won the first round, Noiel the second. The high scorer here wins the game, CY$10,000 and a chance at CY$50,000 in Deuces Wild Poker. (audience cheers) Players, Joker Poker plays just like Five-Card Poker except that we have two Jokers in the deck -- for a total of 26 cards. If you draw a Joker in this round, you may use it for anything when your poker hand is complete.

Robert, since you won Video Poker, you got to cut the cards during the break. And once again, (holds up car keys) the Jag and 100-grand is still available if you get a natural royal flush. But the key word here is "natural". If your make a royal flush and it's aided by either or both Jokers, it doesn't count toward the big bonus package. (puts keys away) So, with all that said, D.J. Hamilton will deal out the first two up cards in Joker Poker to start us off.

D.J.: OK...

D.J.: ...hey, the Queen of Hearts and the Joker.

Doug: Well, Robert, if you wanted a wild card up for grabs early on, you gave 'em a good cut. First question in the final round is coming up. Hands on the buzzers, good luck and away we go...

During the month of November, Americans celebrate...
\ Memorial Day
\ Thanksgiving
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

NOIEL
ROBERT

(Noiel buzzes in)

Doug: Noiel.

Noiel: Thanksgiving

Doug: That's it!

NOIEL
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: I think I know what card you want -- but I have to ask which one.

Noiel: I'll take that Joker, please

Doug: Thought so.

NOIEL

ROBERT

Doug: Noiel's on the scoreboard first. Deej, what cards are at stake next.

D.J.: The King of Spades and Jack of Diamonds. Of course, you guys would know this better as "20".

Doug: Say, that's right, we do have the past and present hosts of Net Gambit playing with us. How cool's that? Let's see how the blackjack hosts do in poker -- and with this next question.

Roman numerals can be represented by...
\ the letter D
\ the letter M
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert's in there.

Robert: All of the above!

Doug: Right!

NOIEL
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: "D" is 500, "M" is 1000 in Roman numerals. Robert, you have "X", or 10, as it were. Which card?

Robert: I don't want to have Noiel get a pair of Kings, so i'll take the King.

NOIEL

ROBERT

Doug: Tie score in this round. Deej, what's next.

D.J.: The Queen of Diamonds and the Queen of Clubs. Why split these cards?

Doug: Another blackjack reference, eh?

D.J.: Of course. :) (audience laughs)

Doug: In any event, next question for 10...

In women's professional basketball, The Houston Comets...
\ won the first even WNBA championship
\ are the current WNBA champions
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Noiel buzzes in)

Doug: Noiel.

Noiel: won the first even WNBA championship

Doug: Indeed.

NOIEL
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: And I think they won the next three, as well. Which card, Noiel?

Noiel: I'll take the Queen of Diamonds

NOIEL

ROBERT

Doug: OK, even though it's a not a natural royal flush, Noiel's potentially got 3/5 of a royal flush nonetheless. So, it's getting interesting as D.J. shows us the next two cards...

D.J.: Oh, sorry, Noiel. No royal for you. King of Hearts and the 9 of Diamonds.

Doug: Still, getting interesting, thought. let's see what develops on this question.

A correct proper name for a fictional character with the first name of "Robin" is...
\ Robin Hood
\ Robin Givens
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Robin Hood

Doug: Yes, indeed.

NOIEL
ROBERT

(audience applause)

Doug: Though Mike Tyson might wish Robin Givens were a fictional character. Robert, your choice.

Robert: I'll take the King for a Two Pair.

NOIEL

ROBERT

Doug: OK, interesting situation as we come down to the homestretch.Noiel at best could have a straight flush. Robert at best could have a full boat. So...

Doug: ...this blind card question is really important. Question's worth 15 points but more importantly control of the cards. And here's that question...

When the 1824 presidential election was turned over to the House of representatives, John Quincy Adams won the presidency and...
\ Andrew Johnson lost
\ Henry Clay lost
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert

Robert: All of the Above.

Doug: Not right. Noiel, chance to steal the points and important control.

Noiel: none of the above

Doug: No. (audience groans) Of the answers we listed up there, "Henry Clay lost" was the true answer. Among the other losers were Andrew *Jackson* and William H. Crawford. OK, what this means is we leave those blind cards where they are and playanother 15-point question...

Ted Turner is the founder of CNN and was...
\ named Time Magazine's man of the year for 1982
\ married to Jane Fonda
\ all of the above
