Finals Round 1 Doug: And welcome back to the Net Definition Mega Playoff. For those of you just joining us -- where've you been? (audience laughs) A quick recap of what has happened so far.
MICHAEL ANDY Doug: Michael won the first semi-final game and racked up CY$25,500 -- that's factoring in CY$14,000 in winnings from his A to Z round.
Andy won our second game in a sweep. So that's why we're noting he did better in the moolah department -- racking up CY$46,000 in two straight endgames in addition to the CY$11,500 he collected for winning the second semi-final.
BTW, we noted earlier Shawn and John, our eliminated semi-finalists, got surprises in the form of CY$10,500 each in cash and prizes.
As for our finalists overall...
MICHAEL ANDY (scattered cheers)
Doug: ...yeah, they deserve it all. Factoring in now their tournament scores, Michael has racked up a grand total of CY$256,750. Andy with CY$203,500.
Michael, Andy, congratulations thus far. Now it's time to set up for the finals.
MICHAEL ANDY Doug: Don't worry, all the loot's in a safe place. (light laughter from the crowd) We play the finals of the Net Definition Mega Playoff differently than in the semis.
The game is now CY$2000 -- and the first player to reach that goal of CY$2000 will win the tournament. We'll then augment that CY$2000 to CY$1,000,000.
Doug: Score for the runner-up will get bumped up to CY$250,000. Now, Michael's the top seed; he'll start first. When a new round starts, the player who lost the previous round gives the first letter away.
If we're tied at CY$1500, the player who created the tie decides who'll give away the first letter of what would end up being the deciding round.
Michael and Andy are both from New Jersey, by the way. So this is for the bragging rights to the Garden State in addition to the million. Best of luck to you both -- and let's begin to resolve this tournament with our first definition of the finals.
Scarlett: "I Can Help".
Doug: Short definition. "I Can Help". Michael, give away a letter, please, that you do not want.
Michael: Give away the Q.
Doug: And there's no Q. You may take a letter.
Michael: Take the E.
Doug: No E either. So that means control goes over to Andy.
Andy: Give the X.
Doug: And there's no X. You may take a letter.
Andy: Take the A.
Doug: There are two A's.
Doug: First chance to make a guess in the finals is your for CY$500, Andy. Definition again -- "I Can Help".
Andy: A Swan song.
Doug: He got it!
Doug: "I Can Help" was a hit song for Billy Swan. Hence the reason it's a Swan song.
MICHAEL ANDY Doug: Andy's taken his first step toward CY$1,000,000. Michael, a chance to equal the score -- with this definition.
