Semi-Final Game 1 Round 2

Doug: And we're back on the Net Definition Mega Playoff. Before we proceed, let's give our semi-finalists a chance to say hi -- starting with Michael, our top seed.

Michael: My name is Michael Clifford. I am from Marlton, New Jersey. I am currently unemployed. I like watching game shows and playing netgames. Also, I have a brand new hobby.

Doug: Oh, do tell.

Michael: I like to listen to old episodes of Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" from the '70s and '80s.

Doug: I've heard some of those great shows during my recent travels. Great stuff.

Michael: Hopefully, by the end of the tournament, I won't end up like the "little dog named Snuggles", if you know what I mean.

(some laugh, a few "woahs" from the crowd)

Doug: Ah, yes, one of Casey's darker moments. John, the most recent entry into our tourney, a word or two about you, please.

John: Hi, I'm John Menjes from Hollywood, FL. My hobbies include bicycling, reading, and everything Walt Disney World.

Doug: Great place for a vacation, for sure. Next time you're there, please raise a glass to Cindy. We celebrated our honeymoon at Disney and she was a big fan of all things Disney.

(audience respectfully applauds)

MICHAEL
JOHN

Doug: Recap of the score, Michael leads CY$500 to nil. Remember, every round is worth CY$500. Goal is CY$1500.

By the way, before we resume the game, the winner of this semi-final game will have a chance to play the A to Z Round for double the stakes. In other words, the bonus definition will be worth CY$2000 for each unrevealed letter or CY$100,000 if it's solved with no letters exposed.

(audience cheers)

Doug: And the clean sweep rule is in effect for the duration of the semi-finals -- meaning a possible CY$200,000 before you go for the million.

(more cheers)

Doug: Let's get back to the game. Another CY$500 round, another definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Scarlett: Olympic-style events at a nudist camp.

(a few hoots and hollers from the men in the crowd)

Doug: Scarlett's remaining fully clothed throughout this, OK? (audience laughs) Olympic-style events at a nudist camp. John, give away a letter you do not want.

John: I'll give the Q.

Doug: No Q. Take a letter.

John: Take the E, please.

Doug: There are two E's -- one in each word...

(ding)

Doug: ...and one of them is the first letter of the first word. Chance to tie the game right here. Olympic-style events at a nudist camp.

John: Think I've got it. How about Exhibition Races?

(Trivia Trap sfx)

Doug: Incorrect. Michael, back to you.

Michael: Give away the Z.

Doug: And there's no Z. Take a letter.

Michael: Take the A Train.

Doug: And you're on track revealing another letter.

(ding)

Doug: One A in the last word. This will take you up to CY$1000 if you know -- Olympic-style events at a nudist camp.

Michael: It must have been the preseason because those nudists were playing some EXHIBITION GAMES.

Doug: And that's the right answer.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: John, you had the right idea. Your guess of "exhibition races" certainly fit. But Olympic-style events aren't limited to races. Olympic-style events could also include diving, water polo, weight-lifting and so on.

MICHAEL
JOHN

Doug: As for Michael, it appears the long layoff from *this* game didn't affect him one bit. Michael needs to win just one more round to reach the finals. John, you need three in a row. Here's the next definition.
