Round 1
Scarlett Gray: From CDM Enterprises, Net Definition. Found on a map of Alaska.
Scarlett: Solution...
Scarlett: ...and our solution to fun with the pun on VBS is Net Definition. And now, here's the host offering some cold cash, Doug Morris!
Doug: Thanks, Scarlett. Helloooooo, everybody and welcome to Net Definition -- the game of puns and word play. We welcome back our players from the last show due to an irregularity that cropped up in the game. Let's welcome back David Hammond and Robert McBride.
DAVID ROBERT Doug: Robert picked up CY$500 on the last show -- and now has CY$17,500 to his credit. David won the game and managed to take the A to Z Round for CY$50,000. (more cheers) CY$56,750 after just one win.
Gentlemen, welcome back. We're going to keep all your winnings in a nice safe place.
DAVID ROBERT Doug: Now, there's no real need to explain the rules since you both played on the last show. Brief word that this first round is worth CY$250. When a new round starts, the stakes increase by CY$250. If we need a fourth round, it will be worth CY$1250.
The game is CY$1500. First player to reach that magic number goes to the Winner's Board and then plays a bonus definition for 50-grand.
Robert *was* the champion on the last show -- but he'll be the challenger in this game. So that means Robert gets first crack at this definition.
Scarlett: It's liable to happen in a saloon fight.
Doug: It's liable to happen in a saloon fight. Robert, give a letter away that you do not want.
Robert: Give the Z.
Doug: No Z. You may take a letter.
Robert: Take the E.
Doug: There's one E.
Doug: As you know, when you take a letter that appears in the solution at least once, you're entitled to a guess. For CY$250, it's liable to happen in a saloon fight.
Robert: Born to eat?
Doug: Incorrect. David, your turn to play for the first time in this game.
David: Robert looks like he could use a strike. Give him the X.
Doug: Um -- wrong show. No strikes here. But there's no X -- so you may take a letter.
David: I'll take an A.
Doug: There's one A.
Doug: Right next to the E. This is your first chance to win the round. Can you win it with these two vowels? It's liable to happen in a saloon fight.
(time passes) (buzz buzz)
Doug: There's the signal time's up. Back to Robert.
Robert: Give the Q.
Doug: No Q. You may take a letter.
Robert: Take the T.
Doug: Last letter in the first word.
Doug: Another chance to win the 250. It's liable to happen in a saloon fight.
Robert: Boot by ear?
Doug: Incorrect. David, it's back to you.
David: Give Robert the W.
Doug: No W. Take a letter.
David: I'll take an S.
Doug: No S either. No chance to guess. We're back to Robert.
Robert: Give the V.
Doug: No V. You may take a letter.
Robert: Take the R.
Doug: R as in -- well -- Robert -- will complete the last word.
Doug: One R gives you another chance to win the CY$250. It's liable to happen in a saloon fight.
Robert: Foot by ear?
Doug: Incorrect. Back to David.
David: I can't figure out that first word. Give Robert the U.
Doug: No U. You may take a letter.
David: I'll take the M, please.
