Round 2

Doug: And we're back on Net Definition. The show that dares to ask -- is it me or does it seem like Dr. Mallard from "NCIS" is a real quack?

(audience groans)

Doug: Before we start our second round, let's take a moment and converse with our players. Now John Menjess is on the verge of an undefeated championship. John, because your reign as champ will end tonight, regardless of the outcome, we give you a chance to say hello to friends and loved ones.

John: I'd like to say hi to my Mom, my brother Scott and sister Laura, and everyone else in the family, and to my friends from Miramar High class of '89.

And I had that first definition from the clue also. Looks like I gotta make like a tomato and ketchup.

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: At least his mind's in the right frame. We'll raise the stakes in this upcoming round. First, let's say hello to Jay.

Jay: I'm 22 years old, a senior in college graduating after the Fall, and I hope to go further this time around here on Net Definition!

Doug: Well, we have a chance right now for someone to win CY$500 as we resume the competition. John's going to start this time -- with this definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Scarlett: He can take you for a ride.

Doug: He can take you for a ride. John, please give a letter away that you do not want.

John: Give the Q.

Doug: And there's no Q. Which letter will you take?

John: Take the E, please.

Doug: No E. So no chance to guess. Over to Jay for the first time in the round.

Jay: I'll give him an X.

Doug: And there's no X. Take a letter you think can help.

Jay: I'll take the T for myself.

Doug: 'Fraid there's no T. John, back to you. This is like starting over -- only with four less letters in the alphabet.

John: I'll give the Z.

Doug: No Z. Take a letter.

John: I'll take the A, please.

Doug: Other end of the alphabet and there is one A.

(ding)

Doug: It's the third letter in the last word. Yours is the first guess in the round for CY$500. He can take you for a ride.

John: I have an idea -- is it Rick Shaw?

Doug: That's right.

(ding)(audience applause)

John: We had a legendary DJ down here who went by the name Rick Shaw. He had a 40+ year career in South Florida radio.

Doug: Really, isn't that interesting. I recall a man named Rick Shaw was a staff member of the game show "Scrabble". When seeing the name "Rick Shaw", it was hard not to think of the vehicle rickshaw.

JOHN
JAY

Doug: With that, John takes the lead. Now the next round's worth CY$750. Obviously not enough to win the game. But this round is important. If you win the round, you'll have an important decision to make before Round 4.

Right now, let's start Round 3.
