A To Z Round

Doug: And we're back on Net Definition. John Menjes won the game in record time. So we'll start a new main game when John's bonus rounds are over.

Before we start, the game went so quick, we didn't get a chance to really meet you here. So tell the folks about yourself.

John: I'm John Menjes from Hollywood, Florida. I enjoy bicycling, video games, reading, and everything Walt Disney World. I also enjoy a good pun now and then. Gotta love the home-*groan* humor.

(audience groans)

John: Sorry, had to do it.

Doug: Glad you love it. They don't, obviously.

Since this is your first trip to the A to Z Round, John, let me explain. This works much like the game -- except that after we give you the definition, I will give you the letters. And I'll do so in alphabetical order from A to Z.

When I give you a letter that appears at least once in the solution, I'll stop and offer you a chance to guess. A right answer pays CY$1000 for each letter unrevealed.

But here's the great thing. After you get the definition, I'll give you a chance to solve before I even give you a letter. A correct solution with no letters exposed pays CY$50,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: And because of the sweep, you'll have two shots at the 50-grand for a possible CY$100,000. So if you're ready, here comes your first bonus definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Rich: Homer Simpson's biography.

Doug: There you go. One time only for CY$50,000 on this definition, Homer Simpson's biography.

John: 'Fraid I don't know it yet. Pass.

(a few groans from the crowd) (buzz buzz)

Doug: OK, might win 50-grand later. For now, I give you -- A.

(ding) (more groans from the crowd)

Doug: Don't ya love it when that happens? Well, just the one A as you can see and no others. Nine blanks remain. Chance to win CY$9000. Homer Simpson's biography.

John: I had a feeling that's where the A might go. And it still doesn't help. Pass.

(buzz buzz)

Doug: Very well. I give you -- B.

(ding)

Doug: Last letter of the second word. Chance at eight grand. Homer Simpson's biography.

John: A Dumb Story?

(Trivia Trap sfx)

Doug: Incorrect. We move further into the alphabet. B. (pause) C. (pause) D. (pause) E. (pause) Um, F? (pause) G? (pause) We are using English letters, right? (light laughter from the crowd) H. (pause) I. (pause) Huh kay, J. (pause) K. (pause) This may take a while. L.

(ding)

Doug: Hey now! (few claps from the crowd) Either you're happy we put another letter on the board or you got tired of me reciting the alphabet. (light laughter from the crowd) In any event, John, price goes down to CY$7000 and we've burned about half the alphabet. Homer Simpson's biography.

John: I think that L did it. A Slob Story.

Doug: That L did it. Congrats.

(bells; audience applause; The Mad Dash victory music plays)

Doug: CY$7000 in your coffers. And we'll go ahead and start your next bonus definition. Load it up, fellers.
