Game 12 of Net Definition is about to start. First, a few notes...

\ Shawn Wells returns with two wins and CY$30,500. If he wins this game, he'll clinch a berth in the Net Definition Mega Playoff.

\ Because Labor Day's just around the corner, the actual first round of the game won't start 'til after September 7.

...so here's our qualifying question. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, plays against Shawn. The question...

The Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Labor Day at Yankee Stadium. How many runs will the two teams score in the two games?

(time passes)

OK, hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Let's look at the scoreboard.

Yanks sweep both games -- winning 4-1 in the first game and a big 11-1 victory in the nightcap. This make the correct answer to this question...

(ding)

...17 runs. Anyone hit a homer in this run?

Robert McBride 18

Woah! Close one, Robert. But your answer of 18's the closest. You'll try to put a stop to the champ's winning ways on Net Definition.

Rich Jeffries: "The Mentalist Suffers a Mental Lapse in Judgment"
(audience laughs) will not be seen today -- so that we may bring
you the following mental exercise.

======================================================================

(drum roll)

Rich: This is our current champion, Shawn Wells. He's won two games and CY$30,500.

Rich: If he wins tonight's game, he'll win CY$100,000 plus a new car. He'll also be our third undefeated champion and qualify for our Mega Playoff for CY$1,000,000 -- here on Net Definition.

(theme plays)

Rich: From CDM Enterprises, Net Definition. An invitation to visit Prague.

Rich: Solution...

(audience groans)

Rich: ...and our solution to fun with the pun on VBS is Net Definition.

Now, here to Czech in to Studio 63, here's our host, Doug Morris.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Thanks, Rich. Helloooooooo, everybody and welcome to another game of Net Definition. As Rich said, our champ, Shawn Wells, is one victory away from a big payoff and a tournament berth for an even bigger payoff.

SHAWN
ROBERT

Doug: You've met our champion. Let's greet our challenger, Robert McBride. (audience cheers) We'll talk later -- but this game has a lot at stake. So let's start.

Doug: First round's worth CY$250. The next CY$500 -- then CY$750 and if necessary, a deciding round for CY$1250. The first player to collect CY$1500 wins our game and the right to play the A to Z Round for up to CY$50,000.

If you sweep the first three rounds, you'll play a doubleheader in A to Z for up to CY$100,000. And in Shawn's case, winning the game outright is an automatic hundred grand and the car.

Robert's the challenger. Here's our first definition.
