CY$500 Round

Doug: And we're back with Net Definition. Our challenger, Will, took one letter, took a chance to solve and instantly won CY$250. We'll get back to the game in a bit. But first, let's meet our players -- starting with the champion, Shawn.

Shawn: Once again, my name is Shawn Wells, and my wife and I run a day care center near Springfield, Illinois. We have a 7 year old son. In my spare time I enjoy playing poker, and now since I have won some money, it looks like I will get to play in the World Series of Poker in 2010!

(audience cheers)

Doug: Even though I host Net Poker 'round these parts, it's not terribly often I play Hold 'Em. Best advice I can give: don't go all in on 7-2 offsuit. (light laughter from the crowd) You're down a bit here -- but the game is young. Let's say hi to the opposition, Will.

Will: Well, Doug... (pretends to take off mask) ...my real name is Dirty Harry, and I had a great time with D.J. last month.

(audience laughs and applauds)

Will: No, not really. I'm an engineer from Central New York and in my spare time I enjoy amateur radio and music composition.

Doug: I don't know about you -- but I'm glad we got in plugs for Net Poker and TBR. Will, Shawn, let's get back to this game. Since Shawn didn't even get a word in edgewise the last round, he'll get first crack at this definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Rich: The University of Michigan football team losing the big game.

Doug: Oh I am *so* tempted to make a comment -- but I won't. (light laughter from the crowd) Except to say -- the University of Michigan football team losing the big game.

Shawn: I'll give the X.

Doug: No X. Take a letter you think will help you.

Shawn: I'll go with a T.

Doug: Good choice...

(ding)

Doug: ...one T starts the answer, the other ends it. Let's see if you can figure out everything between the T's. For CY$500, the University of Michigan football team losing the big game.

Shawn: Wish I had an answer. I'll have to pass.

(buzz buzz)

Doug: OK. It's over to Will for the first time this round.

Will: I'll give away the zed.

Doug: There's no 26th letter of the alphabet in the answer. Take one now.

Will: I'll take those E's.

Doug: Sensing there's more than one appearance of the fifth letter of the alphabet?

(ding)

Doug: If that's the case, your hunch is right. You have at least one letter in each word now. Do you have a guess for CY$500? The University of Michigan football team losing the big game.

Will: Hail, to the losers, they all suck, for -- they blue it.

Doug: They indeed *blue* it.

(ding) (audience applause)

Doug: One of Michigan's team colors is blue and, yeah, like it or not, Jim Tressel's Ohio State teams have had Michigan's number. OSU only lost to the Wolverines once during Tressel's tenure.

Will: Let's go Bucks!

(smattering of cheers)

Doug: I like that attitude. Unfortunately, I can't award bonus points.

(light laughter from the crowd)

SHAWN
WILL

Doug: Score after two rounds, Will 750, Shawn nil. Challenger has the champ on the ropes.

Now this next round is worth CY$750. If Shawn wins the round, he ties the score and will have a choice to make ahead of the final round. If Will wins, he'll win the game in a sweep and play a double-header of A to Z for a possible CY$100,000 total payoff.

We move on to the next definition.
