CY$500 Round Doug: Back on Net Definition. But first, let's take a moment and meet the players -- starting with our newcomer, Lori.
Lori: Hi my name is Lori Burstein and I'm a teacher.
Doug: Nourishing the minds of our future. God bless all teachers -- and thanks for coming. And Michael, for anyone who's new to our show, tell us about yourself.
Michael: My name is Michael Clifford. I am from Marlton, New Jersey. I am currently unemployed. I like watching game shows and playing netgames. Also, I would like to say hello to my favorite "Deal or No Deal model", Jill Manas. Hi Jill! You're my favorite!
(light laughter from the crowd)
Doug: Bet you wish Jill were turning letters on the board, a la "old school" WoF. Let's move on to our CY$500 round. Lori gets first dibs on this definition.
Rich: What the perfect speller won in the spelling bee.
Doug: What the perfect speller won in the spelling bee. Lori, this may be up your alley, since your in the education field. Give away a letter you do not want.
Lori: X.
Doug: There's no X. Take a letter you think you can use.
Lori: S.
Doug: S as in Sam -- and there's no S. Before control goes to Michael, I should point out these puzzles are prepared well in advance. So, it's just a wild coincidence we have a teacher playing a spelling bee-related definition.
With that disclosed, Michael, it's over to you.
Michael: Give away the Q.
Doug: No Q. Take a letter now.
Michael: Take the T.
Doug: Just the one.
Doug: But it does give you a chance to pad the lead. For CY$500, what the perfect speller won in the spelling bee.
Michael: I probably know the first 2 words, but not the last 2 words. I will pass.
Doug: OK, we go back to Lori.
Lori: Z.
Doug: Normally, Z is a good letter to give away.
Doug: But not this round. Michael, you have another shot at it. If you're right, you win the round. If not, you still, at the least, give away a letter. But let's see if you can win it right now.
What the perfect speller won in the spelling bee.
Michael: Well, I know that in the National Spelling Bee, a bell is rung when a word is spelled wrong. Is the answer "THE NO BELL PRIZE"?
Doug: That is *right*.
Doug: If the speller didn't get a bell, he or she got the no bell prize instead.
MICHAEL LORI Doug: Michael leads 750 to nil. The next round's important. If Michael wins this round, he wins the game in a clean sweep and plays a double-header in A to Z for a possible CY$100,000. Lori, if you win this round, you'll tie the score and have an important decision to make ahead of Round 4.
Let's go right in to the CY$750 definition.
