CY$1250 Round

Doug: We're back on Net Definition. The winner of this round will be crowned the new champ -- and go on to play the A to Z Round for CY$50,000.

We start by having Rich give us the deciding definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Rich: Phil aced his.

Doug: Phil aced his. Steve, you have a decision to make. You may start by giving away the first letter -- and then possibly taking the next letter for yourself -- *OR* you may pass control to Michael meaning he'd have to give you the first letter of the round and take the next for himself.

So, decide who'll start us off.

Steve: I'm going to cross my fingers and pass control to Michael, hopefully he won't be able to solve with one letter revealed, and I'll be able to get it with two.

Doug: OK, Michael, the control's in your court.

Michael: I'll give away the X.

Doug: Oh, you didn't want to do that.

(ding)

Doug: Steve, since he gave you an X, you have a chance to win the game. If not, you still maintain control. For now, let's see if you can win it here. Definition again -- Phil aced his.

Steve: I don't know it just yet. (buzz buzz) I'm going to give Michael the Q

Doug: No Q. Take a letter.

Steve: Let me have the E, I know there's at least one.

Doug: You're right about that.

(ding)

Doug: Two E's as a matter of fact. Another chance at winning the game. Phil aced his.

Steve: This may come back to bite me, but I'm stumped.

(buzz buzz)

Doug: OK, Michael, this is a bit of a reprieve. Your turn.

Michael: Give away the Z.

Doug: No Z here. Take a letter you think can help you.

Michael: Take the A.

Doug: Other end of the alphabet's a good one.

(ding)

Doug: You have two A's -- one's the middle letter of the second word, the other's the next to last letter in the last word. You have letters in all the words. Is it enough to win? Definition again -- Phil aced his.

Michael: This is just a wild guess. I think Phil relates to Phil Mickelson and he would ace "The Par Exam".

(Trivia Trap sfx)

Doug: Good logical thought -- but not right. Steve, back to you.

Steve: I'll give Michael the V.

Doug: No V. Take a letter.

Steve: Crossing my fingers and hoping there's a B.

(ding)

Doug: First letter of the second word. For the game, Phil aced his.

Steve: I hope it's "The Bar Exam"

Doug: It is the bar exam!

(bells; audience applause; The Mad Dash victory music plays)

Doug: "Murphy Brown" fans remember Phil owned a bar on that show. So he passed *that* type of bar exam.

STEVE
MICHAEL

Doug: Steve, CY$2500 and a chance at CY$50,000 in just a moment.

Michael, only CY$250 -- but I have good news. And it doesn't involve Geico. Our judge has alerted me of an irregularity that cropped up in gameplay -- and that put you at an unfair disadvantage. So, you'll keep the CY$250 -- but we won't let the loss count against you. We'll have a rematch between Steve and Michael on the next show.

(audience applause) (theme plays)

Doug: Right now, let's rally around Steve as he goes for CY$50,000 after this.
