A To Z Round

Doug: He has two clean sweeps and an undefeated championship. About the only thing missing from the legacy of Andy Silikovitz is a perfect payoff in the A to Z Round. Let's see if he can collect CY$50,000.

Now Andy, since you did not sweep the first three rounds of the main game, you know we just play this one round of A to Z. You also know that in a moment, I give you the letters one at a time in alphabetical order -- from A to Z. The moment I give you a letter that appears at least once in the answer, you have a chance to solve for CY$1000 per blank space left as such. And even before I give you the A, you have a chance to solve for CY$50,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: So. (floor director runs to Doug; hands printed e-mail to Doug; runs off) Hold on a sec. What is this?

(floor director says it's an e-mail from a viewer and suggests Doug should read it aloud)

Doug: Read this?

(floor director says yes)

Doug: Sure we have the time?

(floor director says yes)

Doug: OK. (looks at sheet; reads aloud)

"Dear Doug,

Regarding that puzzle you just had of 'Jim Rome is earning', that's no lie. Ever since I went toe-to-toe with Mr. Rome on his ESPN2 show, have you noticed his popularity has sky-rocketed since 'the incident'?

Now his radio show's stronger than ever and he's back with ESPN with 'Jim Rome is Burning'.

With all that success, I should be entitled to a tenth of his profits.

Signed, Jim Everett."

(audience laughs and applauds)

Doug: If the *real* Jim Everett is watching, I concur. All right, with all that out of the way, Andy, let's get to your bonus definition.

(FF reveal sfx)

Rich: Rachel is one.

Doug: Short and sweet definition -- but the payoff right now is anything but short. One time only for CY$50,000, Rachel is one.

Andy: It's probably wrong, but I'll say... A Green character.

Doug: A Green character...

Doug: Oh that is so wrong. (Trivia Trap sfx) (scattered laughs from the crowd) Look, it's his last time with us before the tourney. I gotta have a *little* fun, OK? All right, let's move on. I'll give you the A.

(ding)

Doug: Well, at the least, I think we saw that coming. And that's all that's coming. Possible CY$14,000 payoff here. Rachel is one.

Andy: No guess. Several famous Rachels

(buzz buzz)

Doug: All right. We'll proceed further into the alphabet. B.

(ding)

Doug: Woah! B's the middle letter of the last word. That was another Jim Rome project, for what it's worth. But nevermind Rome. This answer's worth CY$13,000. Rachel is one.

Andy: Maybe Rachel Hunter. A model celebrity. (Trivia Trap sfx)

Doug: Great guess with what you had to work with. Not right, though. Let's move on. C.

(ding)

Doug: Well. C's first letter of the final word. Interesting. You're going for 12-grand here. Rachel is one.

Andy: No guess. Don't know the second word.

(buzz buzz)

Doug: Very well. We give you the D. (pause) Heh, no D? All right. E?

(ding)

Doug: Hey, three E's -- including one in that second word. So, now that you have letters in all the words, do you have the winning answer for CY$9000? Rachel is one.
