Episode 6 Game 2

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: Let's roll those dice again.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: And a big 10 for CY$1700 total. Roll 'em again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I will roll those dice one more time.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Ooohh, another 7. That counts as a bust.

Doug: Still a close game -- but we're close to finding a winner. This is Round 5. Here's the question.

Drachma, lira, or peso. Before the euro, what was the official currency of Italy?

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Lira.

Doug: That's it. (audience applause) Dice are hot for you, Michael. Take your free roll.

(Michael rolls)

(audience groans)

Doug: Lovely. A 3. Well, I think I know the answer -- but you have to tell me -- bank the 300 or roll again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I'll roll again.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: And -- a little better. Five for CY$500 more. Bank the 800 or keep on keepin' on?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I will keep on rolling.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: And a big 9 for CY$900 more. Want to add 1700 to your coffers or roll again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I have to say it. I'll roll one more time.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: And another 9. Up to CY$2600. Was that really one more time?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: Yes it was. I will freeze.

Doug: Or in this case, bank.

(ding) (audience cheers)

Doug: All right. Round 6 commences now. Unless Nikolai banks exactly CY$3000 in this round, we play the catch-up round right after this round. New question.

"Rodeo Drive", "Wall Street" or "Route 66". You'll probably find all of these on a map -- but which one is the title of a movie starring Michael Douglas?

(Nikolai buzzes in)

Doug: Nikolai.

Nikolai: Wall Street.

Doug: Right you are. (audience applause) Gotta lot to make up. Take your free roll.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: And a 5 for the man. I have to ask -- bank the 500 or roll again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: With the way things are going, I have to roll again.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: Hey now. Double decision to make. Have CY$400 added to the pot...

Doug: ...or take whatever's hiding behind the double 2 space on the board.

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: I'll see what's behind the terrible twos.

(a few from the crew and audience laugh)

Doug: Not going there. But let's see if there's something great or terrible.

(ding) (audience cheers)

Doug: I'd say that's great. CY$2000 more in the pot. Shuffle 'em up, fellers.

(amounts are shuffled on the double decision board; after shuffling stops, the amounts are covered immediately with the doubles)

Doug: Nikolai, suddenly the pot's up to CY$2500. If you banked now, you'd start the catch-up round -- and you'd have to overcome a manageable CY$500 deficit. Roll again -- and you could either lose it all or gain enough to get the lead.

What do you think?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: You know, everyone, some of you can call me crazy, but CY$500 is a manageable amount to try and catch up by, plus I haven't lost a game yet. I will bank.

(mixed reactions from the crowd)

(ding)

Doug: Savages, aren't they? (a few laughs from the crowd) Well, it's catch-up time. Nikolai will be starting us off shortly.

Remember, in the catch-up round, we don't build a pot. You get one roll of the dice. Nikolai, if you bank at least CY$500, you force Michael to roll -- or else he wins automatically.

Also keep in mind a roll of a 7 is a bust. You don't lose anything from your bank -- but you don't gain anything either. We have to shuffle the board *again*...
